Here’s a brief note and a somewhat odd bit of trivia — there were no 100+ point games from any team during the 2009 season. Granted in fantasy football, 100 is just an arbitrary number, but for stats purposes it is a threshold rarely reached and also carries the psychological factor with it as well.

But to put it in perspective, the last year that no team has had a 100+ point week was 1999 — a full decade ago.

There were two close calls in 2009 — Philadelphia scored 99 in week 9 and Boston scored 98 in week 6, but no other team came within a touchdown of hitting a 100+ point week in 2009.

The Philadelphia Griffins will keep the trophy for overall points after scoring 61 in the final week, easily beating out Orange County who managed only 20 points. The Griffins finish with 1,032 points, and the Beach Dudes are second at 979 points. The Froglickers finished 3rd overall with 941 points.

Boston and Keystone finished 4th and 5th overall in points at 895 (BOS) and 869 (KEY). The Wildcats and Longfellows will take the final 2 consolation awards for top points for non-playoff teams.

The Big Oregon Bang has made 4 trips to the Fantasy Bowl in the past 7 years, and this year walks away with the franchise’s second FFL championship game title with a 63-44 win over the Frelinghuysen Froglickers. The Orange County Beach Dudes had the weekend’s high score and won the Fantasy Bowl consolation game (aka 3rd place) by a 79-42 score over the Philadelphia Griffins.

The Dudes also closed the gap in the overall points race. Going into the final week, Philadelphia leads the Beach Dudes by only 12 points: 971-959. The Froglickers, at 899 points, will likely finish a distant 3rd or 4th, as Boston now sits with 862 points and appears poised to grab an award for top points of non-playoff teams. KEY (833), MIM (820), MER (819), HVV (805) and RIB (795) are all within striking distance of grabbing one of these remaining two awards.

The Steelers’ thrilling, last-second win over Green Bay Sunday also provided some FFL thrills. With the Big Oregon Bang trailing the Philadelphia Griffins by 5 points, and all fantasy players finished for both teams with the exception of the Big Bang’s Big Ben, the Steeler QB delivered a game-winning touchdown as time expired, giving Oregon the win with the TD plus a passing yardage total nudging past the 500-yard mark. The resulting 7 points sent the Big Bang to the Fantasy Bowl with a 70-68 win over Philadelphia.

The Big Bang will meet the wild card Froglickers in the Fantasy Bowl after a 56-45 win over the Orange County Beach Dudes. The Dude’s were hoping Giants’ receiver Steve Smith could spin a little magic in the Monday night game, but it was not to be for OCD.

The Froglickers make their third trip to the Fantasy Bowl — a long wait since winning back-to-back championships in 1994 and 1995, when the franchise was known as the Wisconsin Cheeseheads. Oregon is making it’s 4th trip to the title game, winning in 2003 and losing in 2005 and 2006.

The Frelinghuysen Froglickers finish 9-5 and win the Wild Card slot for the Fantasy Bowl playoffs via an 85-56 win this week over the Griffins. MassIll Mud finishes at 8-6 following a 57-33 loss to Richburgh.

Philadelphia at 10-3-1 is the #1 seed. Orange County gets the #2 seed and snaps their losing streak with a 41-26 win over Miami to finish at 10-4. Oregon rounds out the final four with a 9-5 record after a 21-10 win over Syracuse this week.

The Fantasy Bowl semi-final matchups will be:

PHI Griffins (10-3-1) vs. BOB Big Bang (9-5)

OCD Beach Dudes (10-4) vs. FFL Froglickers (9-5)

Six teams are serious contenders for the high point awards for non-playoff teams. KEY, BOS, MER, HVV, MIM and RIB are all within approx. 30 points of each other in the low-to-mid 700’s in total points. All other teams have fewer than 600 points.

Philadelphia captured the #1 seed for the Fantasy Bowl playoffs with a razor-thin 51-50 win over Oregon. The Big Bang, however, clinched the Engle Division despite the loss because Dallas also lost by the palindromic score of 92-29 to the Mud. Orange County has captured at least the Wild Card slot, but MassIll is still not out of the running for the Paterno Division title. The Mud’s 3-game winning streak coupled with the Beach Dude’s 3-game losing streak (including a 50-48 loss to Boston this week) has left a slim hope for MassIll. If MIM-OCD both finish with 9-5 records, the tiebreaker would go to total points. OCD current enjoys 111-point lead, which is not out of the question should the Mud’s studs all turn in huge games.

The most likely scenario, however, still finds the Mud fighting it out with the Froglickers for the Wild Card slot. These teams didn’t play each other during the regular season, so if they end up with identical W-L records, the tiebreaker will come down to total points. Currently FFL leads MIM by 32 points overall. The week 14 matchups for these two teams are: MIM vs. RIB, and FFL vs. PHI.

If MIM and FFL both lose in week 14, Keystone could finish with the same record. But the Longfellows are eliminated from the Wild Card scenario via head-to-head losses to both FFL (twice) and MIM during the regular season.

And finally, going into the last weekend, New Chester will still finish with the worst regular-season record, but they are now riding a 3-game winning streak following their 48-44 defeat of Richburgh this week.

We’re behind with updates here on fflgoo.com, but the league standings, scores and stats are all available on Web League Manager so check them out there until we get this site updated (most likely Wed. evening 12/2).

With 2 weeks left in the regular season, this much is clear: Philadelphia has clinched the Cappelletti Division title, while Orange County and Oregon each have clinched at least a tie for the other division titles. Frelinghuysen, Keystone, Dallas, and MassIll are all in the thick of the race for the Wild Card slot. A number of other teams with 5 wins still technically have a shot at the Wild Card, but chances are very slim at this point for them.

The New Chester Thorobreds are winless no more following a 51-19 victory over Miami.

The Orange County Beach Dudes clinched at least a tie for the Paterno Division title, and only needs to win 1 of their final 4 games to clinch the division crown. The Dudes had the week’s high score in a 92-79 win over the Froglickers. Frelinghuysen drops 1.5 games behind the Griffins in the Cappelletti Division as Philadelphia beat the Mud, 73-51. Oregon maintains a 2-game lead in the Engle Divison after a 70-63 win over Boston.

We’re at the trading deadline, we have 3 clear-cut division leaders, and the wild card is still pretty wide open (with the notable exception of the still winless Thorobreds).

Let’s repeat once again — the trade deadline is just a few days away … kickoff Thursday night.

This means several things as we all know, but let’s review:

1. No trades after kickoff this week
2. Transactions go back to first-come, first-serve after kickoff this week. Reminder: you cannot drop a player until after his team’s game has finished that week.
3. Only players on a roster kickoff week 11 (or before) are available for protection next year. (eg, players added after kickoff week 11 are not eligible for protection)
4. More points in these finals weeks could increase your chances in the draft lottery for non-playoff teams next year.

The Philadelphia Griffins faired much better than the Phillies in the week past. The Griffins notched high weekly score of the year so far in a 99-50 rout of the Violence. The Beach Dudes posted the week’s second-highest score in an 86-42 win over the Big Bang.

With 5 weeks left in the regular season, two things seem apparent: Orange County at 8-1 looks to be a playoff team, and New Chester at 0-9 is not going to be a playoff team. Everyone else is within 3 games of each other in the standings.

Reminder: the trade deadline is kickoff week 11.

Two streaks were snapped in one game this weekend, and in the process a rare scoring category was invoked for (what the editor believes is) the first time in league history. Dallas Armadillos running back Kevin Smith had a endzone tackle of an opposing player, scoring 2 points for the safety in the Armadillos’ 44-36 win over Frelinghuysen. Dallas snaps their 5-game losing streak, while the Froglickers saw an end to their 5-game winning streak. FFL leads the Cappelletti Division by a half game over Philadelphia and by one game over Keystone. The Longfellows topped the Griffins this weekend 69-66.

The editors also discovered that the Web League Manager does not automatically support the 2-point safety category, which is a good time to remind owners to check your own scores to ensure they are correct each week.

Oregon’s Big Bang continued with the hot hand winning their 5th straight game 54-35 over Happy Valley. The Violence have a big hill to climb if they want to return to the Fantasy Bowl, finding themselves with a 3-5 record and locked in a 3-way tie for second place in the Engle Division.

Orange County upped their record to a league-best 7-1 and returned to the win column with a 53-35 defeat of Richburgh. The Beach Dudes have a 2-game lead over Boston, who had the week’s high score with a 75-37 win over the MassIll Mud.

For 17 seasons in this league, we’ve never had an undefeated season. Make that 18, as the Orange County Beach Dudes suffered their first loss of the year, 69-43 to the Happy Valley Violence. New Chester remains the only winless team at the halfway point, dropping to 0-7 in a 92-15 rout at the hands of the Mud. MassIll’s 92 points was the week’s high score.

Frelinghuysen won their 5th straight game, 71-66 over Richburgh. Oregon is riding a 4-game winning streak after a 47-44 win over Mercer. Both the Froglickers and the Big Bang lead their respective divisions. Streaking in the other direction are Dallas, who dropped their 5th straight game 58-38 to Syracuse; and Miami, who lost their 4th straight game, 46-39 to Philadelphia.

Keystone had the week’s 2nd-highest score in a 77-46 win over Boston. The Wildcats have had 450 points scored against them through the first 7 weeks — an average of over 64 points a week. Both Keystone and Boston sit with 4-3 records.
