Armadillos grab Philip Rivers and big draft picks

The Dallas Armadillos went on a last-day trading spree leading up to the protection deadline, trading DeSean Jackson, Jay Cutler, Frank Gore, Brandon Lloyd, and a few other players, and in return got 3 of the first 20 picks in the 2011 draft, not to mention a big upgrade at quarterback: Philip Rivers.

Also in at the deadline, Keystone trades a 3rd round pick to MassIll for WR Michael Crabtree.

Protected rosters will be posted as soon as they are all accounted for and recorded.

Philip Rivers traded to DAL

  • DAL trades QB Jay Cutler, WR DeSean Jackson, WR Sidney Rice, and draft picks 2011[5, 6, 7, and 8] to FFL for QB Philip Rivers and draft picks 2011[5, 6, 7, and 8]*
  • DAL trades WR Percy Harvin and RB Michael Bush to RIB for draft pick 2011[2]

V. Jackson headed to Wildcats; Stafford to Violence

With just under two days to Tuesday night’s protection deadline, the short hot stove period of FFL is in full swing. Two big deals were announced Sunday.

The Boston Wildcats landed WR Vincent Jackson in a move that clearly signals the Wildcats want to repeat as champions this year. New Chester will get Boston’s 2011 first-round pick, 2012 third-round pick, and prospect RB James Starks. If the Thorobreds make no other deals, they’ll enter the draft with 4 of the first 16 picks, including the #1 overall pick.

In Happy Valley, the Violence think they have found their QB to replace the retired/MIA Carson Palmer, by obtaining QB Matthew Stafford from Dallas for WR Brandon Lloyd. Both teams finished in the money last year and are looking to re-tool for a playoff run.

Wildcats claw past Longfellows 71-40 for Fantasy Bowl XIX Title

The Boston Wildcats road strong performances from QB Tom Brady (12), RB Matt Forte (16), WR Greg Jennings (11) and K Sebastian Janikowski (19) to knock off the top-seeded Keystone Longfellows 71-40 for a win in Fantasy Bowl XIX. Keystone was paced by QB Michael Vick (14) and WR Miles Austin (13). RB Shonn Greene (8) was the only other player to score more than 2 points for the Longfellows.

The 2010 Fantasy Bowl win is the third championship for the Wildcats, who also won titles in 2008 and 1997. The Wildcats have appeared in 4 other Fantasy Bowls, losing in 1994, 1999, 2000, and 2001. The 2001 loss was to Keystone 91-78, and is Keystone’s only previous Fantasy Bowl appearance.

Despite the Fantasy Bowl loss, Keystone held on to win the Overall Points Trophy, edging out Boston 974-967 for the points trophy. The other two playoff teams finished 3rd and 4th in the point race: Happy Valley (948) and Philadelphia (933).

Dallas (925) and Oregon (920) finished 1st and 2nd in high points for non-playoff teams.
