Game recaps from CBS Fantasy Football AI Sports Reporters
Took them long enough, but Happy Valley Violence finally notched a mark in the win column after taking down Chicago Mud. Meanwhile, New Chester Thorobreds beat Big Oregon Bang within an inch of their lives as part of this week’s exciting action.
That’s More Like It!
Happy Valley Violence finally get a ‘W’ this week
‘We can build on this.’ Happy Valley Violence, who stumbled into week eight with the worst record in the league, better hope so. In the only close game this week, they just barely got past Chicago Mud, winning 40 to 39. Happy Valley Violence would have only beaten one other team this week, so Coaches Chris Paret, Jeffrey Ozarski, and John Trzeciak got pretty lucky with the schedule.
The win is Happy Valley Violence’s first head-to-head win of the season (having won vs. the 11-12 team average in week 1), which brings their record to 2 – 6. The loss drops Chicago Mud’s record to 4 – 4.
Happy Valley Violence got more than half their points from just two players: Mike Gesicki and DJ Moore. That makes it five straight games of overperforming expectations for Gesicki.
Chicago Mud are bound to have a hard time winning when Jonathan Taylor has a bad week, and that’s just what happened. Taylor was the worst of seven underperformers, totaling 1 point.[1] That’s the fewest points that he’s scored so far this year. His performances have been a good barometer for Chicago Mud this season, as they have gone 1 – 3 when he fails to meet his expectations, and 3 – 1 when he meets them.
Coach Ronnie Feldman has to be kicking himself for his lineup decisions this week. He left Malik Willis and his 11.2 expected points on the bench, favoring Caleb Williams (7.6 points expected).
This decision cost Chicago Mud a total of 2 points, which cost them the game. Coach Feldman might want to draw a lesson from what happened, as his team has a much better record when he follows the experts’ opinions on who to start.

Tee Higgins’ 29 points help New Chester Thorobreds crush Big Oregon Bang
This week featured four blowouts, but this one was the biggest. New Chester Thorobreds pounded Big Oregon Bang into submission, winning 105 to 44. The 61 point margin that separated these teams represents the biggest blowout of the season so far.
The win makes it three in a row for New Chester Thorobreds, bringing their record to 5 – 3. The loss drops Big Oregon Bang’s record to 3 – 4.
Tee Higgins was the key contributor for New Chester Thorobreds, posting 29 points. That topped all but one player this week.
Big Oregon Bang had many underperformers, but Michael Penix Jr. stood out, scoring -4 points. Penix Jr. set the new low mark this season with that performance. His performance this week definitively broke his three game streak of surpassing his projections.
New Chester Thorobreds will be going against Connecticut Wildcats next week. As for Big Oregon Bang, they will match up with Orange Co. Beach Dudes.
No Chance
Ja’Marr Chase led the charge for Boalsburg Blowfish in a one sided affair
Boalsburg Blowfish had to be wary coming into this game after losing both matches against Frelinghuysen Froglickers last season. Thankfully for Coaches cathy weaver and Doug Weaver, the past was not prelude. Boalsburg Blowfish left Frelinghuysen Froglickers wondering where it all went wrong, winning 103 to 52.5. Blowouts are typical for these teams these days. Boalsburg Blowfish has been involved in two straight blowout games, while this is the 3rd straight blowout game for Frelinghuysen Froglickers.
The loss drops Frelinghuysen Froglickers back below .500 at 3 – 4. The win brings Boalsburg Blowfish to 5 – 3.
Boalsburg Blowfish had two main stars in Ja’Marr Chase and Tony Pollard, who together produced 46 points. Chase scored 22.5 points, which is the most he’s gotten so far this year. He shook off an ankle injury to catch this bullet for a key touchdown against the Titans.
Meanwhile, Lamar Jackson was the main culprit in Frelinghuysen Froglickers’ loss, scoring no points. Jackson fell farther short of his expected points than any other player this week. He attempted exactly one pass before being knocked out with what could be a season-ending injury.
Both teams have good news in the upcoming schedule. Next week will see Boalsburg Blowfish taking on the 3 – 4 Philadelphia Griffins. Philadelphia Griffins will have to put their running back depth to the test in that one, as Jaylen Warren has his bye week.
Next week Frelinghuysen Froglickers will have a much easier challenge as they take on league doormat Mercer Mustangs. Frelinghuysen Froglickers might be feeling extra confident about that game, as Mercer Mustangs limps in on a four game losing streak.

Michael Wilson produces 18 points to lead Philadelphia Griffins in victory
With how his recent games have been going, it wouldn’t be surprising if Coach Jim Waugh was caught napping on the sideline. The previous three games were blowouts, and this week’s action was no different. Mercer Mustangs were on the losing side of a blowout, falling 64.5 to 32.5 at the hands of Philadelphia Griffins. The loss is part of bad trend for Mercer Mustangs, who have scored fewer points than the week before for four straight weeks now.
The loss drops Mercer Mustangs to 1 – 7, and sinks them to the bottom of our internal power rankings. The win brings Philadelphia Griffins to 3 – 4.
Michael Wilson and Jaylen Warren were the prime movers for Philadelphia Griffins, delivering 18 and 18.5 points, respectively. Wilson’s performance this week ended a three game streak of failing to hit his projections.
Meanwhile, there were plenty of chefs cooking up this week’s loss for Mercer Mustangs. They had seven underperformers, with MarShawn Lloyd (0.5 points) being the worst. Coach Waugh has to be used to bad scores from Lloyd, who has been the worst performer on Mercer Mustangs more times than any other player.
These teams will see a difference in the quality of their upcoming opponents. Mercer Mustangs’ loss is a bad start to an easy stretch on the schedule. The next two games are against sub .500 teams, starting with Frelinghuysen Froglickers next week.
As for Philadelphia Griffins, they will square off against Boalsburg Blowfish. Coaches cathy weaver and Doug Weaver’s team will come into the game with some momentum, having posted 103 points this week. Both coaches on those teams might be feeling a bit cocky heading into the game, having easily dispatched their opponents this week.
Brock ‘n Roll
Brock Bowers’ 21.5 points were too much for Orange Co. Beach Dudes
By a score of 87.5 to 76.5, Keystone Longfellows walked away victorious over Orange Co. Beach Dudes. Orange Co. Beach Dudes are now 4 – 3 after suffering their first back-to-back losses of the season. The win brings Keystone Longfellows to 6 – 2.
Keystone Longfellows relied heavily on Brock Bowers, who notched 21.5 points. No other tight end scored more points than that this week. After his performance, he moved up to being the best tight end in the league.
Meanwhile, Orange Co. Beach Dudes had plenty of duds in the loss. Spencer Shrader was the worst of a five man group of underperformers, posting only 1 point. Shrader has now been the worst starter on his team two times this season. He is in the midst of a troubling sequence, having seen his point total fall every week for the last three weeks.
The schedule for Keystone Longfellows brings Miami Muffdivers around next week. The game will be a clash of the titans, as those are the two top teams in the league. Meanwhile, Orange Co. Beach Dudes will be playing Big Oregon Bang.
Predict This!
Matthew Golden and Miami Muffdivers flip the script against Connecticut Wildcats this week
This was expected to be a blowout and it was. The surprise was who blew out who. Miami Muffdivers made it look easy against Connecticut Wildcats, winning 79.5 to 53. Miami Muffdivers’ win ended Connecticut Wildcats’ four game winning streak.
The win brings Miami Muffdivers’ record to 5 – 2, while dropping Connecticut Wildcats to 4 – 3.
Miami Muffdivers didn’t have any huge performances this week, but also didn’t have anybody who really dropped the ball. Matthew Golden topped the wide receiver average by 5.8 points to lead the team, while Kyle Pitts fell only 4.7 points short of the average TE in bringing up the rear. Miami Muffdivers is still perfect in games where Golden overperforms, going 4 – 0.
Meanwhile, Keon Coleman and Parker Washington were both working off the same playbook this week, producing only 0.5 points for Connecticut Wildcats.
Both teams have a tough upcoming schedule. Miami Muffdivers will face off against Keystone Longfellows next week. That game could eventually determine who the top seed is, as right now those teams sport the league’s best records.
Connecticut Wildcats’ next three games are against winning teams, starting with New Chester Thorobreds next week. New Chester Thorobreds will also come into the game with some momentum, having posted back-to-back 80+ point games.
Bye Week: Armadillos romp
The Dallas Armadillos posted the second-highest score of the week; unfortunately, they were on a bye so the only get 1 FFL point for being amongst the high scoring teams of the week.
