Game recaps from CBS Fantasy Football AI Sports Reporters
Connecticut Wildcats easily bested Philadelphia Griffins this week, while Orange Co. Beach Dudes won a game that couldn’t get much closer. Other interesting news such as Boalsburg Blowfish’s first loss of the season, in this week’s recap.
One More Makes Four
Kenneth Walker III and Keystone Longfellows beat Happy Valley Violence for their 4th win in a row
Scoring the fewest points in the league for the week is bad strategy. Just ask Coaches Chris Paret, Jeffrey Ozarski, and John Trzeciak. Happy Valley Violence got beat down by Keystone Longfellows, losing 86.5 to 44.
The loss drops Happy Valley Violence to 1 – 3, and sinks them to the bottom of our internal power rankings. The win makes it four in a row for Keystone Longfellows, giving them a record of 4 – 0.
Keystone Longfellows relied heavily on Kenneth Walker III, who racked up 28.5 points. No other running back scored more points than that this week. He didn’t just get his 2nd touchdown for the game here, he got his 2nd touchdown in the past 22 seconds.
Meanwhile, the loss for Happy Valley Violence came down to a pretty simple factor: they didn’t go anywhere. Collectively, they only managed to gain 278 yards rushing and receiving. No other team gained fewer total yards this week.
Although Happy Valley Violence lost this game, on the bright side, Keystone Longfellows were the hardest test they will face for a while. Their next two games are against sub .500 teams, starting with Big Oregon Bang next week. Both Happy Valley Violence and Big Oregon Bang come into that game licking their wounds after getting thoroughly knocked around by their opponents.
As for Keystone Longfellows, they will square off against Philadelphia Griffins next week. Philadelphia Griffins have been racking up the points recently, posting two straight 90+ point games.
Show’s Over
Tetairoa McMillan and Dallas Armadillos put an end to Boalsburg Blowfish’s three game streak
There were several blowouts this week, but none bigger than this one. Dallas Armadillos stomped all over Boalsburg Blowfish 121 to 72.5. With the win, Dallas Armadillos put an end to Boalsburg Blowfish’s three-game win streak.
The win is the first of the season for Dallas Armadillos, making their record 1 – 3. The loss is the first of the season for Boalsburg Blowfish, dropping their record to 3 – 1.
Dallas Armadillos were hot right out of the gate early on Sunday. Tetairoa McMillan was a one man team, scoring 35 points. Quite an improvement from last week, when McMillan scored only 1 point.
Meanwhile, Coaches cathy weaver and Doug Weaver’s squad just couldn’t quite get it going. Cam Skattebo and Jalen Hurts both did poorly, together coming up with 12.5 points. Bad performances are pretty common these days for Skattebo, who has now underperformed the experts’ predictions in three straight games.
Dallas Armadillos were already a big favorite to win going into the Sunday late games. It was over for good after Kyren Williams dropped 26 points. A good performance for Dallas Armadillos by Joe Burrow on Monday night just made things uglier.
Cya!
Big Oregon Bang had no chance as Jonathan Taylor got the job done
It’s probably been tough for Coach Ronnie Feldman to stay awake while following his recent games. The last two games have been blowouts, and this week was just more of the same. Chicago Mud demolished Big Oregon Bang, winning 80.5 to 54.5. The 80.5 points that Chicago Mud dropped were the most they scored so far this year.
The win gets Chicago Mud back to .500 with a 2 – 2 record.
Chicago Mud got a nice group performance in the win, as four players beat their positional averages. Jonathan Taylor was the first among equals, scoring 20.5 points. Taylor busted out a very British hot tea celebration after his first of two touchdowns in London.
Chicago Mud also got a big effort from Will Reichard (9.1 points above expected). A 18 point performance is all in a day’s work for the 2nd best kicker in the league.
Coach Feldman’s squad managed to rise above the bad efforts from Daniel Jones and Jacory Croskey-Merritt (5 points total). Coach Feldman was no doubt hoping for more from Danny Dimes’ first venture off the bench.
Big Oregon Bang really lost this game as a team. They had five underperformers, with TreVeyon Henderson (2 points) being the worst.[1] Big Oregon Bang only had one player who gave a passable performance this week, with Chris Olave scoring 12 points.
Deluge
CeeDee Lamb came up huge for Connecticut Wildcats in this high flying contest
Last year’s playoff loss at the hands of Philadelphia Griffins might still be ringing in Coach Ron Yeany’s ears, but he got some measure of revenge this week. Connecticut Wildcats made it look easy against Philadelphia Griffins, winning 125.5 to 100.5. The two teams combined for the highest score so far this season.
The win brings Connecticut Wildcats to 2 – 2, and sends them to the top of our internal power rankings. The loss drops Philadelphia Griffins’ record to 1 – 2.
Connecticut Wildcats had a one-man wrecking crew, with CeeDee Lamb dropping 29.5 points. That was good for 2nd place among all players this week. He became the first Cowboy ever to go for 15+ receptions, 150+ receiving yards, and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Rashee Rice and Matthew Stafford put a big hurt on Philadelphia Griffins’ chances this week, notching only 5 points between them. Rice scored zero points, which were the fewest of any wide receiver this week. He has now failed to hit his expected points in any game so far this year.
Coach Yeany was no passive bystander in the victory this week. He started two players that the experts thought should be riding the pine. One of those picks, Devaughn Vele, worked out. The other pick, Tyler Shough, did not.
Overall, these moves gave Connecticut Wildcats an extra 3 points, which just made the final result that much more embarrassing. Coach Yeany’s decisions this week allow him to relinquish his title as the worst gameday coach in the league (Coach David Zilberfarb wears the crown now).
The Thrill of (a) Victory
Mercer Mustangs gets a one week break from a bleak season
Things were lining up pretty well for New Chester Thorobreds coming into this one. They had scored the second most points of any team this season, while Mercer Mustangs came into the game on a three game losing streak. But then, this is why they play the game.
Mercer Mustangs slid by New Chester Thorobreds, winning 71 to 66.5. Mercer Mustangs got off the schneid with this win. They now sit at 1 – 3. The loss drops New Chester Thorobreds’ record to 2 – 2.
Nico Collins separated himself from the rest of the crew on Mercer Mustangs, producing 23.5 points. Collins topped all but two wide receivers this week with that performance. He showed exactly zero rust in his first game back from injury.
Meanwhile, New Chester Thorobreds saw five different players underperform, and while none of them particularly stuck out, J.K. Dobbins and his 3 points was officially the worst. Dobbins has now failed to hit his expected points in any game so far this year.
New Chester Thorobreds might really want to have this week’s loss to an easy opponent back. The next two games are against winning teams, starting with Orange Co. Beach Dudes next week. Then again, Coaches mike white and Rich Sladic might be getting Orange Co. Beach Dudes at the right time, as they team will limp into next week’s game having posted less than 65 points each of the last two weeks.
Meanwhile, Mercer Mustangs will be playing Dallas Armadillos. Mercer Mustangs will have long odds to win if Dallas Armadillos scores another 121 points, like they did this week.
Down to the Wire
All 15 of Spencer Shrader’s points counted in Orange Co. Beach Dudes’ win
In a game that couldn’t get much closer, Orange Co. Beach Dudes slipped by Frelinghuysen Froglickers, winning 53.5 to 53. Big time luck for Orange Co. Beach Dudes in this contest, as they would have lost against all but one other team. The win brings Orange Co. Beach Dudes’ record to 3 – 1, while dropping Frelinghuysen Froglickers to 2 – 2.
Orange Co. Beach Dudes had three players lead the way, with Spencer Shrader, Ashton Jeanty, and Jaylen Waddle putting up 33.5 points. That makes it three straight games of overperforming expectations for Shrader. The hot streak has left him as the best kicker in the league.
Meanwhile, Coach David Zilberfarb can look to Saquon Barkley and Jakobi Meyers when passing out blame for the loss. The two combined to score only 2 points. SaQuads has now failed to exceed the average running back’s point total in any week this year. He left with a hamstring injury after just three minutes of game time.
Bye Week
Miami scored 66.5 points on the bye week, and that was not enough to push the Muffdivers into the top half of point scorers this week, so Miami gains no FFL Points this week.
