Total Point Trends

  • A change to scoring rules before 2012 season in how yardage bonuses are calculated (more granular) resulted in about a touchdown increase per team per week.
  • A change to scoring rules before 2020 season adding 1/2-point per reception for running backs and receivers has increased scoring by about two touchdowns per team per week so far.
  • Scoring historically has been variable, and has improved as owners have access to more modern tools and information outlets.
