Week 6 Recap

by CBS Fantasy Journalist

Frelinghuysen Froglickers took yet another hit to the loss column, while New Chester Thorobreds won their 5th in a row. Meanwhile, Mercer Mustangs finally picked up their first win. Read about how it happened after the jump.

Don’t Test Me

Coaches Paul Gilgallon and Sam McClain looked like they were trying to give away this game with their lineup decisions, but the team just wouldn’t quit. Dallas Armadillos got the job done against Happy Valley Violence, winning 68.5 to 59.

The win gets Dallas Armadillos back above .500 at 3-2. The loss drops Happy Valley Violence’s record to 3-3.

Rhamondre Stevenson made it rain for Dallas Armadillos, totaling 20 points. That topped all running backs this week. He rushed for 76 yards, an effort that made him the only running back to score more than one rushing touchdown on Sunday.

Coaches Chris Paret, Jeffrey Ozarski, and John Trzeciak put Marquez Valdes-Scantling into the Happy Valley Violence lineup for the first time this week, but Valdes-Scantling might want to keep his bench warming pants clean. Valdes-Scantling was the worst of four underperformers, posting zero points. That was the fewest of any wide receiver this week.

These teams will see a difference in the quality of their upcoming opponents. Dallas Armadillos will be going against Miami Muffdivers next week. Dallas Armadillos will have long odds to win if Miami Muffdivers scores another 93 points, like they did this week.

Meanwhile, Happy Valley Violence will be playing Frelinghuysen Froglickers. Good timing, as Frelinghuysen Froglickers will come into the matchup on a four game losing streak. The game will be a rematch from week one, and Coaches Chris Paret, Jeffrey Ozarski, and John Trzeciak will no doubt be worried that Ja’Marr Chase will drop another 20 points for Frelinghuysen Froglickers like he did the last time those teams faced off.

Five Alive!

After scoring their high point total for the season last week, New Chester Thorobreds (5-0) followed it up this week with their season low…but it didn’t matter. They ended up well ahead of Orange Co. Beach Dudes (2-4), winning 78 to 58. New Chester Thorobreds have now exceeded the league average point total in six straight games.

Both squads keep their momentum (or in the case of Orange Co. Beach Dudes, “momentum”) going as a result of this match. The win brings New Chester Thorobreds’ winning streak to five games. The defeat is the 3rd in a row for Orange Co. Beach Dudes.

JuJu Smith-Schuster and Josh Allen were the key contributors for New Chester Thorobreds, producing 16.5 and 21 points, respectively. Allen has now exceeded his points expectations in every game so far this year. He hurdled over a defender to finish Sunday’s game with 329 passing yards, 32 rushing yards, and three touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Coaches dan callahan and Ross Hessler will have a hard time pinning the blame for this loss on any particular player. Orange Co. Beach Dudes were brought down by five underperformers, the worst of whom was Mike Boone (0.5 points). Boone has yet to give Orange Co. Beach Dudes even one week of above average running back play this season.

Both teams face trouble in the upcoming schedule. Something has to give next week when New Chester Thorobreds and Keystone Longfellows clash, as they come into the game on five and three game winning streaks, respectively. Adding to the difficulty, New Chester Thorobreds will have to play without Josh Allen, who has a bye week.

Losing to a good team better not become a pattern for Orange Co. Beach Dudes, as its next two games are also against winning teams, starting with Boxboro Blowfish next week.

That’s More Like It!

‘We can build on this.’ Mercer Mustangs, who stumbled into week six with the worst record in the league, better hope so. In the only close game this week, they just barely got past Frelinghuysen Froglickers, winning 53.5 to 52. Mercer Mustangs would have only beaten one other team this week, so Coach Jim Waugh got pretty lucky with the schedule.

Mercer Mustangs got off the schneid with this win. They now sit at 1-4. The loss is the 4th straight for Frelinghuysen Froglickers, and puts their record at 1-4.

Mercer Mustangs relied heavily on Mark Andrews, who racked up 16.5 points. That’s all in a day’s work for the 2nd best tight end in the league. He caught seven of his 11 targets for 106 yards and scored this impressive touchdown.

Meanwhile, Coach David Zilberfarb will find no easy scapegoat for this week’s loss. Frelinghuysen Froglickers had six underperformers, with J.K. Dobbins (zero points) being the worst. Dobbins’ zero points made him the worst starter on his team for the 2nd time this season.

Coach Zilberfarb tried to second guess the experts this week when setting their lineup, and the result was very costly. They started Geno Smith instead of Matthew Stafford, despite the experts’ prediction that Stafford should have played.

This decision cost Frelinghuysen Froglickers a total of 3 points, which cost them the game. The bad decision is more of the same for Coach Zilberfarb, whose gameday decisions have been some of the worst in the league this season.

Goin Streaking!

Coming into the game, Boxboro Blowfish had scored the second most points of any team over the last three weeks. They scored a decent amount of points this week, but it wasn’t enough. Coach Doug Weaver’s boys got beat by Keystone Longfellows, 72.5 to 60. The 60 points that Boxboro Blowfish scored were the fewest they scored this year.

The victory makes it three in a row for Keystone Longfellows, giving them a record of 4-1-1. The loss drops Boxboro Blowfish’s record to 3-2-1.

Keystone Longfellows put together a solid Sunday. Kenneth Walker III led the way, scoring 15 points. It took almost every defender the Cardinals had to stop this epic rush, which helped Walker III finish Sunday’s game with 97 rushing yards on 21 attempts.

Meanwhile, Boxboro Blowfish were sputtering along with a less than stellar performance. Isaiah McKenzie really stunk it up, scoring only 1 point.

Boxboro Blowfish were already facing long odds going into Monday night’s game. Any hope they had left evaporated after Courtland Sutton dropped only 1 point.

One More Makes Four

It’s probably been tough for Coach Pat landy to stay awake while following his recent games. After last week’s blowout, he played in another one this week. Miami Muffdivers made it look easy against Connecticut Wildcats, winning 93 to 56. The 93 points that Miami Muffdivers scored were the most they scored this year, just one week after setting their season low.

With the win, Miami Muffdivers continues their four-game streak of success, and gives them a record of 5-1. The loss leaves Connecticut Wildcats now with the worst record in the league at 1-5.

Two of the key players in this fight were real-life teammates, as Miami Muffdivers’ Stefon Diggs squared off against Tyler Bass. While they were on the same team, they sure didn’t deliver the same result. Stefon Diggs did great for Miami Muffdivers, recording 22 points. That performance was good for 2nd place among all players this week.(1)

On the flip side, Tyler Bass was not having a typical Tyler Bass week, delivering only 6 points. That’s the 2nd worst game that Bass has produced this year.

The other players on Miami Muffdivers had Diggs’ back, coming up with 71 points. Of that crew, Joe Burrow led the way with 26 points. Burrow proved he can think on his feet with this messy but successful scramble in the backfield.

Monster

Philadelphia Griffins came into the game as the biggest underdog this week, but they didn’t let that get them down. They strolled past Big Oregon Bang, winning 65.5 to 50.5. The result gets both squads back to a .500 record at 3-3.

Coach Nicholas Fisher picked up Deon Jackson off the waiver wire this week and he paid immediate dividends. Jackson joined up with fellow Colt Michael Pittman to score 51% of Philadelphia Griffins’ points.

This week’s loss for Big Oregon Bang was a true group effort. Mike Williams was the worst of a six man group of underperformers, dropping only 1 point.

Coach Fisher did his part to secure the victory. He started two players that the experts thought should be riding the pine. One of those picks, Michael Pittman, worked out. The other pick, Taysom Hill, did not.

Overall, these moves gave Philadelphia Griffins an extra 11.5 points . This is the first time this year that Coach Fisher’s decisions have earned his team points.

(1) Performance rank based on how player did vs their positional average

BYE: Chicago Mud (1-4) 65.5 points

Week 5 Recap

by CBS Fantasy Journalist

Chicago Mud took yet another hit to the loss column, while New Chester Thorobreds won their 4th in a row. Meanwhile, Connecticut Wildcats finally picked up their first win.

Climb Aboard

Gabe Davis was probably in Coach Terry Muth’s doghouse after last week’s 0.5 point ‘performance’. He might be let out now. Davis led the way as Keystone Longfellows got past Mercer Mustangs, winning 74.5 to 68. His 27.5 point performance topped all but one player this week.1 He only caught three of his six targets on Sunday, but made the most of them with this incredible 98 yard touchdown to open the game.

Keystone Longfellows also got a big effort from Christian McCaffrey (5.2 points above expected). Run CMC has now outperformed the league average running back for four straight games.

Meanwhile, Mercer Mustangs really lost this game as a team. They had five underperformers, with Najee Harris (1.5 points) being the worst.2 Harris’ 1.5 points made him the worst starter on his team for the 1st time this season.

Coach Jim Waugh certainly can’t blame the loss on Davante Adams, who scored 22.5 points. Adams’ performance this week ended a three game streak of failing to hit his projections.

The win brings Keystone Longfellows’ record to 3 – 1 – 1, while dropping Mercer Mustangs to 0 – 4.

Uh…Maybe Next Time

In a week that featured three blowouts, this was the biggest. Boxboro Blowfish took everything from Chicago Mud but the kitchen sink this week, winning 94.5 to 37.5.

With the win, Boxboro Blowfish moved to 3 – 1 – 1, good for the top spot in the Cappelletti division. Another defeat makes it three in a row for Chicago Mud, which leaves them with a 1 – 4 record.

Boxboro Blowfish didn’t have any huge performances this week, but also didn’t have anybody who really dropped the ball. Justin Tucker topped the kicker average by 8.1 points to lead the team, while Amon-Ra St. Brown fell only 5.8 points short of the average WR in bringing up the rear. Tucker’s performance paced Boxboro Blowfish for the 1st time this year. His performance on Sunday night took him from the 6th best kicker to the 2nd best kicker in the league.

Meanwhile, Teddy Bridgewater stuck out as the worst performer for Chicago Mud, recording zero points.(2) That made Bridgewater the worst starter this week. Coach Ronnie Feldman is still waiting to get one above-average week from him.

The Thrill of (a) Victory

After losing four straight games, Coach Ron Yeany’s squad finally had enough. Connecticut Wildcats took down Dallas Armadillos handily, winning 70.5 to 55.

The win is the first of the season for Connecticut Wildcats, making their record 1 – 4. The loss drops Dallas Armadillos’ record to 2 – 2.

Connecticut Wildcats, who were a 8 point favorite coming into the game, did a decent job during Sunday’s main action. They were powered by Breece Hall, who scored 22 points. Hall finished Sunday’s game with 197 all-purpose yards and a rushing touchdown, including this 79 yard dash in which he refused to be taken down.

Meanwhile, Coaches Paul Gilgallon and Sam McClain’s squad was taking a collective personal day. They had four underperformers, with Alexander Mattison (1.5 points) bringing up the rear. Coaches Paul Gilgallon and Sam McClain were no doubt hoping for more from Mattison’s first venture off the bench.

Dallas Armadillos also had to deal with a poor effort from Jaylen Waddle (7.9 points below expected). Waddle has now underperformed the experts’ predictions in three straight games.

A win was looking really unlikely for Dallas Armadillos going into Sunday night’s game. The door slammed shut for good after Tee Higgins scored zero points. A solid performance for Dallas Armadillos by Patrick Mahomes on Monday night was not nearly enough for a comeback.

I’ll Have Another

Philadelphia Griffins came up with a truckload of points last week. This week…not so much. They suffered a huge loss to Miami Muffdivers, going down 75.5 to 52. The loss is more of the same for Philadelphia Griffins, who dropped the last game with Miami Muffdivers by the score of 79.5 to 57.5.

The win makes it three in a row for Miami Muffdivers, which brings their record to 4 – 1. The loss drops Philadelphia Griffins’ record to 2 – 3.

Austin Ekeler has been the key player throughout Miami Muffdivers’s winning streak, and came through again this week. Ekeler was a one-man wrecking crew, scoring 29 points. That was the most that any running back collected this week. After a 71 yard dash brought him just short of the end zone, he tried again with more success, finishing Sunday’s game with 2 TDs and 199 total yards.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia Griffins saw six different players underperform, and while none of them particularly stuck out, Jared Goff and his 2 points was officially the worst.2 Goff must have gotten tired from racking up 31 points last week. After a fumble that allowed the Patriots to score their first touchdown, he finished the game without earning a single TD (for his team).

Coach Nicholas Fisher’s gameday decisions have been the worst in the league this season, and this week showed why. He started two players that the experts thought should be riding the pine. One of those picks, Michael Pittman, worked out. The other pick, Antonio Gibson, did not.

Overall, these moves cost Philadelphia Griffins a total of 13 points. Coach Fisher might want to draw a lesson from what happened, as his team has a much better record when he follows the experts’ opinions on who to start.

One More Makes Four

After winning last week with their lowest point total of the year, New Chester Thorobreds (4 – 0) ditched the four leaf clover and got down to business, scoring their highest total of the year. They demolished Happy Valley Violence (3 – 2), winning 109.5 to 70. Besides the victory, Coaches mike white and Rich Sladic can brag that they posted the highest score in the league so far.

Both teams came into this game on hot streaks. The loss ends Happy Valley Violence’s three-game win streak. The win brings New Chester Thorobreds’ winning streak to four games.

Josh Allen was expected to be the top performing QB this week, and that’s exactly what he was. Allen led a very balanced group of five overperformers for New Chester Thorobreds, tallying 32 points. He is on quite a hot streak, performing better than any other starter over the last three weeks. He completed 14 out of 23 passes, earned 370 total yards, and threw four touchdowns (in the first half).

Happy Valley Violence, meanwhile, were having a terrible time moving the ball down the field, with the whole team gaining only 232 yards. That’s the worst result that any team this season has had in the total yards category.

Next week will see Happy Valley Violence taking on the 2 – 2 Dallas Armadillos. Happy Valley Violence will have to put their running back depth to the test in that one, as Jamaal Williams has his bye week. As for New Chester Thorobreds, they will square off against Orange Co. Beach Dudes.

Dawg in the Fight

Orange Co. Beach Dudes are tops in the waiver order, which is good…cause it looks like they might need some help. They could not make it much of a game, losing to Big Oregon Bang 75.5 to 53. Orange Co. Beach Dudes blew out Big Oregon Bang back in week one, so the turnabout this week was fair play.

The loss drops Orange Co. Beach Dudes’ record to 2 – 3, while the win brings Big Oregon Bang to 3 – 2.

Nick Chubb was the key contributor for Big Oregon Bang, posting 23 points. Chubb has now exceeded his points expectations in every game so far this year. He looked particularly unstoppable in this touchdown rush on Sunday, ultimately finishing the game with 134 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, there’s no pointing fingers in Orange Co. Beach Dudes’ loss as they failed all over the place. Nyheim Hines was the worst of a six man group of underperformers, producing only 0.5 points. That continues a theme for Hines, who is yet to top the average running back’s point total in any week so far. He was ruled out of Thursday’s game following a concussion on the Colts’ opening drive.

These teams will see a difference in the quality of their upcoming opponents. Next week, Orange Co. Beach Dudes will be playing New Chester Thorobreds. New Chester Thorobreds have been racking up the points recently, posting two straight 85+ point games. New Chester Thorobreds will also come into the game undefeated.

Meanwhile, Big Oregon Bang will collide with Philadelphia Griffins. Philadelphia Griffins will have to play without Josh Jacobs, who has a bye week next week.

Week 4 Recap

by CBS Fantasy Journalist

Connecticut Wildcats took yet another hit to the loss column, while Happy Valley Violence won their 3rd in a row. That and more in this week’s Around the League report.

Hear Him Roar

Keystone Longfellows had the good fortune of having the league’s best player this week in T.J. Hockenson. Keystone Longfellows destroyed Big Oregon Bang, winning 100.5 to 66.5 behind 32 points from Hockenson. This was his first venture off the bench, which bodes well for his future playing time. He secured eight out of 12 targets and finished Sunday’s game with 179 receiving yards, almost half of which came from this incredible 81 yard catch and run.

Keystone Longfellows also got the benefit of the 4th straight game that Christian McCaffrey exceeded his expectations. Coach Terry Muth’s squad managed to rise above the bad efforts from Gabe Davis and Kyle Pitts (1 point total).

Josh Palmer and Lamar Jackson were double trouble for Big Oregon Bang, together posting only 7.5 points. Jackson’s momentum from last week’s 33 point performance apparently didn’t carry over.

With the win, Keystone Longfellows moved to 2 – 1 – 1, good for the top spot in the Engle division. The loss drops Big Oregon Bang’s record to 2 – 2.

Sabotage

Dallas Armadillos took Chicago Mud out of the playoffs last year, and went ahead and rubbed some salt in that wound this week. They skated by Chicago Mud pretty easily, winning 71.5 to 54. The win brings Dallas Armadillos’ record to 2 – 1, while dropping Chicago Mud to 1 – 3.

Tee Higgins and CeeDee Lamb were the prime movers for Dallas Armadillos, producing 18.5 and 15 points, respectively. That makes it three straight games where Higgins has outperformed the league average wide receiver. He caught seven out of nine targets for 124 yards on Sunday, all despite a second-half ankle injury that briefly took him out of play.

Meanwhile, Tua Tagovailoa loomed large in the loss for Chicago Mud, scoring -1 points. That was fewer than every other quarterback this season. He is out of the hospital following his frightening injury on Thursday, but his return is still uncertain.

Dallas Armadillos will face off against Connecticut Wildcats next week. Connecticut Wildcats will come into the game looking for their first win. Meanwhile, Chicago Mud will collide with Boxboro Blowfish.

One Sided Affair

Coaches Chris Paret, Jeffrey Ozarski, and John Trzeciak might have been looking to rest their nerves a bit after last week’s nailbiter. They got the rest, and the win. Happy Valley Violence (3 – 1) stomped all over Connecticut Wildcats (0 – 4) 101.5 to 68. The 101.5 points that Happy Valley Violence dropped were the most they scored so far this year.

The game leaves both these teams streaking in opposite directions. The victory makes it three in a row for Happy Valley Violence. This loss brings Connecticut Wildcats’ losing streak to four in a row.

Happy Valley Violence were led by the tag team of Rashaad Penny and Jamaal Williams, who together put up 47 points. Penny contributed a 25.5 point performance, which topped all but three players this week.1 He rushed 17 times for 151 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday in his first 100 yard game of the season, helped by impressive plays like this.

Meanwhile, Connecticut Wildcats had plenty of duds in the loss. They were brought down by four underperformers, the worst of whom was Amari Cooper (0.5 points). Cooper only caught one of four targets for nine yards on Sunday, and his stats for targets, catches, and yards were all season lows.

Both teams have a tough upcoming schedule. Something has to give next week when Happy Valley Violence and New Chester Thorobreds clash, as they each come into the game on three game winning streaks. New Chester Thorobreds will come into the game undefeated.

Connecticut Wildcats’ next two games are against winning teams, starting with Dallas Armadillos next week.

‘Ek of Game

Miami Muffdivers had an atrocious 25% winning percentage all-time against Orange Co. Beach Dudes, but that didn’t matter one bit this week. They wound up with a solid victory against Orange Co. Beach Dudes, winning 81 to 71. The win brings Miami Muffdivers’ record to 3 – 1, while dropping Orange Co. Beach Dudes to 2 – 2.

Austin Ekeler was the clear leader on Miami Muffdivers this week, delivering 26 points. That performance was good for 3rd place among all players this week.1 He scored two touchdowns from 13 carries on Sunday, making two great cuts past Houson’s defense on this short rushing TD.

Meanwhile, two players stood out for their poor performance on Orange Co. Beach Dudes, with Michael Carter and Brandon Aiyuk combining to score only 3 points. Aiyuk has now failed to exceed the average wide receiver’s point total in any week this year.

Miami Muffdivers’ next game will be against Philadelphia Griffins in a rematch from week one. Miami Muffdivers won the previous matchup 79.5 to 57.5. Next week’s game will see both of this week’s top running backs square off, when Austin Ekeler matches up against Josh Jacobs.

Meanwhile, Orange Co. Beach Dudes will take on Big Oregon Bang. Orange Co. Beach Dudes will face off against Lamar Jackson in that game, part of a three game stretch against tough quarterbacks which will see them take on Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts in the following weeks.

Three-peat

Coming into the game, New Chester Thorobreds had scored the most points of any team this season. They didn’t knock it out of the park this week, but that wasn’t necessary. Coaches mike white and Rich Sladic’s squad slid by Boxboro Blowfish, winning 86 to 81.5. With the win and those 86 points, New Chester Thorobreds now sits at the top of every component in the CBS power rankings.

New Chester Thorobreds have now won three games in a row, bringing their record to 3 – 0. The loss drops Boxboro Blowfish’s record to 2 – 1 – 1.

New Chester Thorobreds were a picture of symmetry, winning with a very balanced lineup. Cooper Kupp paced the team by beating the average wide receiver by 7.6 points, while Christian Kirk (4.4 points worse than the average wide receiver) was the worst on the team. Kupp has now bested the average wide receiver’s point total in every game so far this year. As a result, he is currently the 2nd best player in the league.

Meanwhile, Greg Dortch and Jalen Hurts put a big hurt on Boxboro Blowfish’s chances this week, dropping only 10.5 points between them.

The strength of schedule diverges for these squads next week. Something has to give when New Chester Thorobreds and Happy Valley Violence clash, as they each come into the game on three game winning streaks.

As for Boxboro Blowfish, they will match up with Chicago Mud. Coach Weaver will be happy to see that Chicago Mud is coming into next week’s game having scored less than 65 points in their previous two games.

Showtime

Philadelphia Griffins just outclassed Frelinghuysen Froglickers this week, earning a 101.5 to 83 victory. Just another good result from the leagues’ all-time leader in winning percentage.

The win evens up Philadelphia Griffins’ record at 2 – 2. The loss drops Frelinghuysen Froglickers’ record to 1 – 3.

Philadelphia Griffins were led by the two man wrecking crew of Josh Jacobs and Jared Goff, who combined for 57% of Philadelphia Griffins’ points. Jacobs kicked in a 26.5 point performance, which was the 2nd best of any player this week.1 He earned a career high 144 yards and scored his first two touchdowns of the season on Sunday, his ability to dodge tackles was on full display with this defense-defying run.

Meanwhile, Matthew Stafford was clearly the weakest link for Coach David Zilberfarb and the gang as he notched 3 points. Stafford has now failed to hit his expected points in any game so far this year. He threw another pick six on Monday, something he has led the league in by a country mile.

Week 3 Recap

by CBS Fantasy Journalist

Happy Valley Violence won in an exceptionally close game against Mercer Mustangs, while Philadelphia Griffins bested Keystone Longfellows with plenty of points to spare. That plus a very lucky win for Orange Co. Beach Dudes in this week’s report.

Cya!

Philadelphia Griffins didn’t give Keystone Longfellows a chance this week, blowing past them 62.5 to 40. Despite the big margin, Philadelphia Griffins got a fairly lucky victory, winning with the 4th lowest point total in the league this week.

The loss drops Keystone Longfellows to 1 – 1 – 1, and sinks them to the bottom of our internal power rankings. The win brings Philadelphia Griffins to 1 – 2.

Philadelphia Griffins had a decent start during the early Sunday games. Adam Thielen carried the water, scoring 12 points.

Meanwhile, Keystone Longfellows decided the whole ‘scoring points’ thing was passe. Gabe Davis was the worst of a four man group of underperformers, scoring only 1.5 points. Keystone Longfellows also had to deal with a poor effort from Joe Mixon (8.9 points below expected).

Going into the Sunday late games, Keystone Longfellows were already a long shot to win. After Kyler Murray dropped only 7 points it was all she wrote.

Down to the Wire

In a game that couldn’t get much closer, Happy Valley Violence slipped by Mercer Mustangs, winning 64 to 63. The 1 point margin that separated these two teams is the smallest gap of the season so far.

The loss makes it three in a row for Mercer Mustangs, which gives them a 0 – 3 record. The win brings Happy Valley Violence to 2 – 1.

Happy Valley Violence had several players step up in the win, as four starters beat their positional averages. Chase Edmonds was the best of the bunch, scoring 12.5 points. Happy Valley Violence also got the benefit of the 3rd straight game that Daniel Carlson exceeded his expectations.

The game wouldn’t have been as close if Coaches Chris Paret, Jeffrey Ozarski, and John Trzeciak had put Jamaal Williams (20 points) in the lineup. Williams did better than any player actually in Happy Valley Violence’s starting lineup this week.

Mark Andrews did his best to give Mercer Mustangs a chance to win. Andrews scored 21 points, which were the most that any tight end collected this week. Unfortunately, for Mercer Mustangs, he both began and ended the list of big performers on the squad.

Mercer Mustangs had three stooges, with Darrell Henderson Jr., Rashod Bateman, and Greg Joseph tallying 4 points. Joseph scored 2 points, which were fewer than every other kicker this week.

Putting on a Show

By a score of 81 to 69, Boxboro Blowfish walked away victorious over Dallas Armadillos. Boxboro Blowfish have now exceeded the league average point total in three straight games. The win brings Boxboro Blowfish’s record to 2 – 0 – 1, while dropping Dallas Armadillos to 1 – 1.

Three players (Saquon Barkley, Jalen Hurts, and Dameon Pierce) delivered victory to Boxboro Blowfish, getting 49 of their team’s 81 points. Hurts has now exceeded the average quarterback’s performance in every game so far this year. Following Sunday’s game, he became the first quarterback in NFL history to earn over 900 passing yards and 150 rushing yards in the first three games of the season.

Meanwhile, it will be difficult for Coaches Paul Gilgallon and Sam McClain to fault any one player for the loss. Dallas Armadillos had five underperformers, with D’Andre Swift (2.5 points) being the worst.

Someone will get their first loss next week as the 2 – 0 – 1 Boxboro Blowfish takes on the 2 – 0 – 1 New Chester Thorobreds. The game will be a clash of the titans, as those are the two top teams in the league. Meanwhile, Dallas Armadillos will collide with Chicago Mud.

Better Lucky than Good

Orange Co. Beach Dudes had to be wary coming into this game after losing both matches against Chicago Mud last season. Thankfully for Coaches dan callahan and Ross Hessler, the past was not prelude. Orange Co. Beach Dudes squeaked past Chicago Mud, winning 52 to 49. Big time luck for Orange Co. Beach Dudes in this contest, as they would have lost against all but one other team.

The win brings Orange Co. Beach Dudes’ record to 2 – 1, while dropping Chicago Mud to 1 – 2.

Dalvin Cook was the key contributor for Orange Co. Beach Dudes, scoring 13 points. Despite winning, Orange Co. Beach Dudes struggled to score points due to five underperforming players, of whom Russell Wilson (2 points) was the worst. Wilson failed to throw a single touchdown on Sunday, par for the course for the quarterback now totalling 2 TDs this season.

Meanwhile, there were plenty of chefs cooking up this week’s loss for Chicago Mud. Tua Tagovailoa was the worst of a six man group of underperformers, tallying only 6 points.(1) Tyreek Hill has to share in some of the blame as well, coming up with 7.5 fewer points than he was expected to. That was quite a falloff from last week, when he scored 33.5 points.

All Eyes on Me

Miami Muffdivers came into the game as the biggest underdog this week, but they didn’t let that get them down. They got past Frelinghuysen Froglickers without much trouble, winning 82.5 to 66. The win brings Miami Muffdivers’ record to 2 – 1, while dropping Frelinghuysen Froglickers to 1 – 2.

When Coach Pat landy entertained thoughts of winning this game, he probably didn’t include the two players that ended up leading the way. DeVonta Smith scored 23 points, while Tyler Boyd scored 15. Smith’s 23 points were the most of any wide receiver this week. He caught eight passes for a career-high 169 yards on Sunday, 44 of which came from this incredible reception.

Meanwhile, Frelinghuysen Froglickers suffered through poor performances from Matthew Stafford, Jarvis Landry, and Justin Jefferson, who collectively scored only 6.5 points. Jefferson was probably the biggest let down this week, since he was projected to put up 18.8 points. He totaled 14 receiving yards on Sunday, whi ch is the worst single-game performance of his career.

Miami Muffdivers will be going against Orange Co. Beach Dudes next week. Coach Landy is getting Orange Co. Beach Dudes at the right time, as they will limp into next week’s game having posted less than 55 points each of the last two weeks.

Meanwhile, Frelinghuysen Froglickers will take on Philadelphia Griffins. Frelinghuysen Froglickers have now been the favorite in both their last two games, and failed to perform both times. The experts might not give them the benefit of the doubt in their next one.

Jackson Five (TDs)

Big Oregon Bang earned a pretty comfortable victory over Connecticut Wildcats, winning 88 to 67. The defeat puts Connecticut Wildcats on a three game losing streak, dropping their record to 0 – 3. The win brings Big Oregon Bang to 2 – 1.

Big Oregon Bang relied heavily on Lamar Jackson, who delivered 33 points. Jackson topped all but one player this week with that performance.(2) In the past eight days, he has achieved more games with 3+ passing touchdowns and 100+ rushing yards (two) than any other NFL player has earned in their entire career.

Meanwhile, Coach Ron Yeany can blame the loss on Justin Herbert, Aaron Jones, and Tyler Bass, who together managed only 13.5 points. Jones hopefully has some credit left over from last week’s 24.5 point performance. He rushed for only 36 yards this week and also fumbled the ball just a yard short of the endzone.

Next week will see Big Oregon Bang taking on the 1 – 1 – 1 Keystone Longfellows. That team is not coming in very hot, after finishing this week with only 40 points. As for Connecticut Wildcats, they will match up with Happy Valley Violence.

Week 2 Recap

by CBS Fantasy Journalist

Coach Ron Yeany went against the experts when setting his lineup this week, and that boldness resulted in a loss at the hands of New Chester Thorobreds. Meanwhile, Chicago Mud beat Frelinghuysen Froglickers within an inch of their lives as part of this week’s exciting action.

Yep, That’s It

Trey Lance nets zero points in loss to Happy Valley Violence

Happy Valley Violence didn’t have too much trouble with Philadelphia Griffins this week, winning 51 to 30. Happy Valley Violence won despite having the 4th lowest scoring total in the league this week.

The win brings Happy Valley Violence back to even at 1 – 1. The loss drops Philadelphia Griffins’ record to 0 – 2.

Happy Valley Violence were led by the tag team of Daniel Carlson and Allen Robinson, who together notched 24 points. Carlson scored 14 points, which topped all but one kicker this week. His impressive 55 yard field goal was his 27th in a row, currently the longest streak in the NFL.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia Griffins had many underperformers, but Trey Lance stood out, posting zero points. That made Lance the worst starter this week. His season is over after he suffered a broken ankle requiring surgery in Sunday’s game.

Coach Nicholas Fisher seems to have forgotten to set his lineup this week. He left Michael Pittmanin the game, despite the fact that he was a guaranteed zero points. That cost his team 10.5 points, which ultimately didn’t matter much this game.

Bring the Pain

Amon-Ra St. Brown’s 29.5 points sinks Mercer Mustangs

‘The thrill is gone’–at least when it comes to Mercer Mustangs’ recent games. After last week’s blowout, he was involved in another no-doubter this week (and lost again). Mercer Mustangs got clobbered by Boxboro Blowfish, losing 97.5 to 64.5. The loss drops Mercer Mustangs’ record to 0 – 2, while the win brings Boxboro Blowfish to 1 – 0 – 1.

Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jalen Hurts were the key contributors for Boxboro Blowfish, producing 29.5 and 28 points, respectively. Hurts’ 28 points were good for 3rd place among all quarterbacks this week. He managed to combine passing and rushing excellence in a way no quarterback had ever done before.

Meanwhile, this week’s loss for Mercer Mustangs was a true group effort. They were brought down by five underperformers, the worst of whom was Tom Brady (5 points).1

Next week will see Mercer Mustangs taking on the 1 – 1 Happy Valley Violence. The matchup will feature the two top TE’s in the league, as Mark Andrews meets up with Travis Kelce. Meanwhile, Boxboro Blowfish will square off against Dallas Armadillos next week in a battle between two undefeated teams.

Predict This!

Tua Tagovailoa and Chicago Mud flip the script against Frelinghuysen Froglickers this week

This was expected to be a blowout and it was. The surprise was who blew out who.  Chicago Mud perfectly destroyed Frelinghuysen Froglickers, winning 109 to 49. The 109 points Chicago Mud scored set the high mark for the league this week.

The win brings Chicago Mud’s record to 1 – 1, while dropping Frelinghuysen Froglickers to 1 – 1.

Tua Tagovailoa was expected to be the worst performing QB this week, but apparently that was just fuel for the fire. Tagovailoa joined up with fellow Dolphin  Tyreek Hill to score 68% of Chicago Mud’s points. Tagovailoa threw six touchdowns and completed 36 passes for 469 yards, all three statistics setting career highs.

Meanwhile, the loss for Frelinghuysen Froglickers came down to a pretty simple factor: they didn’t go anywhere. Collectively, they only managed to gain 279 yards rushing and receiving. That was the lowest yards gained total of any team this week.

Chicago Mud will face off against Orange Co. Beach Dudes next week. That team will limp into the contest having posted only 41 points this week. Meanwhile, Frelinghuysen Froglickers will collide with Miami Muffdivers. Miami Muffdivers will bring the league’s top player so far, Stefon Diggs, into the game.

Just Get Out of the Way

Lamar Jackson helps give Big Oregon Bang an easy win this week

This game was expected to be close. Big Oregon Bang found those expectations insulting. They gave Miami Muffdivers a 107.5 to 81 drubbing. The game evens up both teams’ records at 1 – 1.

Big Oregon Bang had two main stars in Lamar Jackson and Nick Chubb, who together put up 61.5 points. Chubb’s 26.5 point performance was the best of any running back this week. He rushed 17 times for 87 yards and caught all three of his targets.

Big Oregon Bang also got a better-than-expected performance from Mike Williams, who beat his projections by 10.9 points.

Over in the loser’s circle, Miami Muffdivers got a big game from Stefon Diggs. Diggsy scored 35 points, which topped all but one player this week. Unfortunately for Miami Muffdivers, he was the only player on the whole team that had a legit good performance.

Coach Pat landy can blame the loss on Chase Claypool, Joe Burrow, and Tyler Boyd, who together managed only 13 points.

Follow the Leader

Cooper Kupp helps deliver a win for New Chester Thorobreds

Coach Ron Yeany has to be kicking himself for his lineup decisions this week. Perhaps scared off by Amari Cooper’s 2 point performance last week, Coach Yeany left him on the bench in favor of Kenyan Drake, despite the experts’ prediction that Cooper should have played.

This decision cost Connecticut Wildcats a total of 17.5 points and cost them the game, as they just didn’t have enough against New Chester Thorobreds (2 – 0), losing 92.5 to 88.5.

New Chester Thorobreds got a nice group performance in the win, as four players beat their positional averages.  Cooper Kupp was just a bit ahead of the others, recording 23.5 points. Kupp earned 108 yards on Sunday, making it his (record setting) 15th game in a row earning more than 90 yards.

Meanwhile, Kenyan Drake loomed large in the loss for Connecticut Wildcats, scoring zero points. Drake might be heading back to the waiver wire after getting picked up before this game.

Leave it to Me

Kyler Murray takes control of the game as Keystone Longfellows wins

Keystone Longfellows were able to grind out a solid victory this week against Orange Co. Beach Dudes, winning by a score of 54 to 41. The win brings Keystone Longfellows’ record to 1 – 0 – 1, while dropping Orange Co. Beach Dudes to 1 – 1.

The rest of Coach Terry Muth’s team were basically spectating, as Kyler Murray, Evan McPherson, and Christian McCaffrey combined for 76% of Keystone Longfellows’ points. Murray’s incredible 20 second backfield scramble somehow resulted in a successful two-point conversion.

Meanwhile, Coaches dan callahan and Ross Hessler can look to D.J. Chark and Russell Wilson when passing out blame for the loss. The two combined to score only 6 points. Wilson was booed by fans after a slow start on Sunday, completing just six of his first 20 throws.

These teams will see a difference in the quality of their upcoming opponents. Next week, Keystone Longfellows will be playing Philadelphia Griffins. Philadelphia Griffins have scored the fewest points so far this year.

Meanwhile, Orange Co. Beach Dudes will take on Chicago Mud. Coach Ronnie Feldman’s team just had a huge week, having posted 109 points.

Week 1 Finals

The finals for week 1 are posted, and we awarded WINS to the top 5 scoring teams, LOSSES to the bottom 6 scoring teams, and two TIES – Blowfish and Longfellows.

Chicago has a loss, but that loss is not reflected in the standings. We will need to keep that in mind going forward.

ALSO – the “games” this week were paired to get the desired Ws Ls and Ts.

The week one games

a) DO NOT count as head-to-head matchups; and
b) DO NOT count for division standings. Only the win-loss-tie record will count.

Again, we’ll keep these points in mind when playoff scenarios are assessed late this season.

Head-to-head matchups will resume with week two games.

Week 1 Scoring Update

Greetings – the “final” scores I posted last night were not correct. The scoring changed by half a point, and now we have TWO teams tied in the middle of the pack … so awarding wins to the top 6 teams is not possible since teams 6 and 7 in scoring this week have the same score.
FFL braintrust will assess and determine best course moving forward. We may award 5 wins, 6 losses, and 2 ties. Here is the updated scoring breakdown week 1:
