Dallas loses first game of year; Longfellows come up really, really short

BOS Wildcats 73
DAL Armadillos 66
WILDCATS: The defending champions snap their 2-game losing streak and edge back into a tie with Syracuse atop the Paterno Division. Boston enjoyed 17-point weeks from 3 players: Matt Forte, Greg Jennings, and Cam Newton in his first Wildcat start. Boston is 5-2 and leads Dallas by 18 points in the overall points race. ARMADILLOS: Dallas loses their first game of the year, despite a surge in the late Sunday games to tie Boston at 66 going into Monday night. All starters but Rashard Mendenhall scored, including 4 in double digits: K John Kasay (15), Calvin Johnson and Jimmy Graham (14 ea.) and Fred Davis (11).
MER Mustangs 62
OCD Beach Dudes 44
MUSTANGS: Another week, another huge game from Drew Brees who lead Mercer with 28 points. Marques Colston added 17 and K Matt Bryant added 12. The Mustangs have now won 2 in a row to even their record at 3-3-1. DUDES: The Beach Dudes drop to 4-2-1 with their second loss on the season. Adrian Peterson had a huge game (23) and Kevin Kolb had a solid effort (12) but the other 6 starters managed only a combined 9 points.
RIB Raptors 62
BOB Big Bang 39
RAPTORS: Richburgh wins their second game of the year, thanks in no small part to the huge coming out party of RB DeMarco Murray, who had the week’s second-highest individual score with 32 points. Recent adds Tim Tebow (12) and Graham Gano (9) also had strong efforts. BANG: The Big Oregon TROPHY BOGARTS lose their 2nd in a row and drop to 2-5 on the season. QB Ben Roethlisberger lead Oregon with 23 points.
HVV Violence 58
MIM Mud 41
VIOLENCE: Two words: Arian Foster. 100+ yards rushing, 110+ yards receiving and 3 TDs set the high bar for all individual performances in week 7 with 34 points. New acquisition K Dan Bailey added 12 as Happy Valley is back in the win column at 4-3. MUD: MassIll’s roller-coaster season continues, as they are back in the loss column and drop to 3-4. The lackluster effort for the Mud was lead by Steve Smith, the only player in double digits (11).
NCT Thorobreds 57
KEY Longfellows 5
THOROBREDS: New Chester improves their record to 2-4-1 behind strong games from Plaxico Burress (18), Mike Wallace (14) and Ryan Longwell (12). LONGFELLOWS: Is this where we make the “shortfellows” joke? Keystone’s 5 points is not a league record, but it’s the lowest team score in recent memory. Last year’s point champions are now dead last in the 2011 points race.
MIA Muffdivers 46
SYR Blizzard 32
DIVERS: Miami improves to 4-3 behind strong games from Darren Sproles (17), Mark Sanchez and Dez Bryant (11 ea.). The Muffdivers have ridden a 3-game winning streak into second place, 1.5 games behind Dallas in the Cappelletti Division. BLIZZARD: QB Aaron Rodgers had his typical strong game (20 pts) and Roddy White added a solid 8, but 5 other Syracuse starters all took goose eggs on the week. Syracuse drops to 5-2 and is tied with Boston atop the Paterno Division.
PHI Griffins 45
FFL Froglickers 21
GRIFFINS: Philadelphia wins their 3rd straight game and improves to 3-4 on the season. K Mason Crosby lead the Griffin scoring with 19 points. LICKERS: Two Froglicker starters scored in negative numbers (Colt McCoy and Ray Rice, -1 each) and only one player broke double digits — Neil Rackers (11). Frelinghuysen drops to 2-5 on the year.

Dallas and Syracuse division leaders with 5 wins; Dudes battle Thorobreds to Tie

PHI Griffins 75
RIB Raptors 21
GRIFFINS: Don’t let the 2-4 record fool you … the Griffins are only 15 points behind the overall leader. Turner and McCoy combined for 40 points, and Josh Freeman finally showed up with a good week at 16 points. All but one starter scored. RAPTORS: There’s no way to put a positive spin on the Raptor’s season at this point. They are 1-5, last in points, and their highest-scoring player of the week was Ted Nugent’s brother with 9 points. (Actually, we don’t know if he’s Ted’s brother.)
MER Mustangs 69
BOS Wildcats 42
MUSTANGS: Ahmad Bradshaw went off big time, with the week’s highest individual score of 26. Marque Colston is back strong with 14 points this week, and Drew Brees’ 12 points was fairly pedestrian by Drew Brees standards. Mercer picks up their second win of the season and stands at 2-3-1. WILDCATS: Every Wildcats starter scored and most had decent yardage points, but there were no rushing or receiving TDs from the entire crew. The defending champs drop to second place in the Paterno Division.
MIM Mud 57
FFL Froglickers 48
MUD: All but one Mud starter scored, with solid efforts all around. Fred Jackson lead the team yet again with 14 points, and Tony Romo chipped in 11. MassIll improves to 3-3 on the season. LICKERS: Frelinghuysen drops to 2-4, despite a fairly strong effort all around. Jay Cutler (12), Jordy Nelson (11) and Ray Rice (10) all scored in double digits.
DAL Armadillos 51
BOB Big Bang 41
ARMADILLOS: Dallas remains undefeated and improves to 5-0-1, with a 2.5 game lead in the Cappelletti Division. Rashard Mendenhall bounced back strong with a 17-point week, Matt Ryan add 10 and Calvin Johnson, John Kasay and Jimmy Graham scored 8 each. Graham, by the way, is the 5th-highest scoring receiver in the league so far this season. BANG: All but one starter scored, but no one managed a double-digit effort. Oh, and by the way: BANGER – PLEASE SEND ME THE DAMN TROPHY!!!
SYR Blizzard 51
HVV Violence 36
BLIZZARD: Syracuse improves to 5-1 and takes over first place in the Paterno Division. Who else but Aaron Rodgers lead the effort for the Blizzard, adding another 19 points. David Akers add 14 and Darren McFadden scored 11. VIOLENCE: Happy Valley drops to 3-3 on the season. Matthew Stafford lead the team with 13 points, and newly-acquired kicker Dan Bailey added a strong 11-point effort. Arian Foster disappointed, however, scoring only 2.
MIA Muffdivers 50
KEY Longfellows 31
MUFFDIVERS: Miami improves to 3-3 on the season, and Frank Gore had his 3rd strong week in a row, leading the Divers with 17 points. Jets Matt Sanchez (12) and Santonio Holmes (8) also had strong games. LONGFELLOWS: All but one Keystone starter scored, but the touchdowns were few and far between, with no player breaking into double digits. Keystone drops to 2-4 on the year.

BOB Big Bang 76
MIM Mud 46
BANG: Ben Roethlisberger (21) and Dwayne Bowe (20) had huge games for Oregon, who improves their record to 3-2. Their 3-game winning streak started the week after Banger declared he had his worst team ever. PS: Send me the damn trophy, Wayne!! MIA Muffdivers 75

Miami improves to 2-3 on the season. RAPTORS: The Raptors got big games from Matt Schaub and Jahvid Best, who scored 20 each, and Vernon Davis who added 12. Other than the 7 points Mike Nugent kicked in, the rest of the starting lineup finished with -1.
SYR Blizzard 75
BOS Wildcats 53
BLIZZARD: Pierre Garcon had the high score of the week at 20 for the high-flying Syracuse crew who ups their record to 4-1. Aaron Rodgers added 19 and David Akers chipped in 12. The Blizzard is 2nd in total points trailing Boston by only 14. WILDCATS: Boston loses it’s first game of the season. Tom Brady, MoJo Drew and Greg Jennings all scored 11 to lead the team, who is still shuffling the waiver wire to find some depth at WR.
PHI Griffins 75
HVV Violence 33
GRIFFINS: Philadelphia finally gets into the win column behind strong efforts from BenJarvus Green-Ellis (23) and James Jones (17). The other two RBs, who sound like a 70s cop show — Turner and McCoy — scored 8 and 11 respectively. VIOLENCE: The Violence suffer their 2nd loss of the season and struggled to fill a starting roster with the first bye week. The sunglass connection at RB — Foster and Grant — provided opposite ends of the scoring spectrum: Arian Foster’s 10 points was the team high; Ryan Grant’s -1 was the low point.
OCD Beach Dudes 75
FFL Froglickers 27
DUDES: Orange County is back on the winning side and ups their record to 4-1 on the season. Adrian Peterson was tops for the week at 26 points, while Victor Cruz added 16 and DeAngelo Williams scored 14. LICKERS: After starting the season with Week One’s highest score, the Froglickers have dropped to 2-3 and 10th overall in points. Ray Rice’s bye was a big part of this anemic effort, no doubt. DeSean Jackson lead the scoring with 11 points.
KEY Longfellows 62
MER Mustangs 41
LONGFELLOWS: Three 50+ yard FGs for Sebastian Janikowski contributed to his high score on the team at 20 points. Michael Vick had an up week with 17 and there was a Shonn Greene sighting: 11 points. Keystone (2-3) has won 2 in a row. MERCER: Who other but Drew Brees lead the Mustangs, adding another 18 points. And Ryan Matthews’ coming out season continued as he added 11.
DAL Armadillos 58
NCT Thorobreds 46
ARMADILLOS: Dallas remains the only unbeaten team in the league at 4-0-1. Three players scored in double-digits: Calvin Johnson (14), Willis McGahee and John Kasay (13 each). THOROBREDS: Eli Manning had another strong game with 22 points, and Mike Wallace rebounded to score 11 points, but the rest of starters managed only 13 points collectively.

Blount matched Tony Romo’s 17 points, to lead the team. WR Steve Smith’s resurgence continued with another 14 points. The Mud drop to 2-2 on the season.
SYR Blizzard 77

BANG: Oregon can thank two Steelers (Roethlisberger 12, Henery 10) for the bulk of their scoring. Derrick Bowe added 8. All 6 running backs on the roster (2 starters, 4 bench) combined for only 9 points. LONGFELLOWS: It’s hard to imagine a worse start for last year’s total points winner, who drops to 0-3. Sebastian Janikowski’s 13 points was the lone bright spot. Michael Vick and Reggie Bush each scored -1 point. Help is on the way for the receiving corps as Keystone won the Nate Washington waiver sweepstakes.

Froglickers, Wildcats open big in Week 1

FFL Froglickers 94
MIA Muffdivers 23
FROGLICKERS: All Froglicker starters scored, with Ray Rice and Mike Tolbert leading the way with 20 points each. Rice looks like he’s going to have a monster year. Jay Cutler contributed a strong 15, with DeSean Jackson scoring 11 and a kicker who “Rack”ed up 10. MUFFDIVERS: Miami kicks of the year with Week One’s low score. Kyle Orton’s 10 points lead the way for Miami as Mark Sanchez’s 14 points remained on the bench. In fact, the Muffdiver bench outscored the starters 36-23.
BOS Wildcats 80
PHI Griffins 51
WILDCATS: Tom Brady’s monster 35-point game paced the defending Fantasy Bowl champions, with stalwarts Matt Forte (13), Maurice Jones-Drew (11) and Greg Jennings (11) all coming up big. Off-season acquisition Vincent Jackson, however, came up short. Bench rookie QB Cam Newton came out strong with 27 points, but it’s unlikely he’ll see the field much with Brady going gangbusters. GRIFFINS: LeSean McCoy looks like he’s going to have a big year for the Griffins, scoring 20 points in his first week. Larry Fitzgerald disappointed, notching only 2 points. Philadelphia put Peyton Manning on IR this week to add a receiver, so it looks like QB Josh Freeman will be running the show for the Griffins.
OCD Beach Dudes 69
RIB Raptors 31
DUDES: WR Wes Welker was the biggest recipient of Tom Brady’s monster game for the Patriots, including Welker’s 99-yard TD catch, which was mostly run. Welker lead the Dudes with 23 points. Kevin Kolb scored 15 while K Nick Folk added 11. Bench QB Ryan Fitzpatrick had an impressive 2011 debut with 18 points. RAPTORS: Only TE Vernon Davis failed to scored for the Raptors, but there were no standout performances either. RB Tim Hightower and WR Mike Williams (the one from Tampa) tied for high score at 8 points.
MIM Mud 64
SYR Blizzard 46
MUD: WR Kenny Britt’s opening performance of the 2010 campaign hints at big things to come. He lead the Mud with 20 points. QB Tony Romo and RB Cedric Benson each added 14. The Mud’s biggest performance, however, was sitting on the bench. WR Steve Smith’s resurgence could have added 26 points to the lineup. In fact, with a couple lineup changes the Mud could have had the week’s high score of 100. BLIZZARD: QB Aaron Rodgers picked up right where he left off last season, leading the Blizzard with 20 points. RBs Darren McFadden (14) and Beanie Wells (11) both had good weeks, but the Blizzard faithful has to be a little concerned at receiver after the first week. Roddy White came up short (2), Danny Amendola was hurt (and dropped), and there were no points on the bench.
DAL Armadillos 57
KEY Longfellows 45
ARMADILLOS: Dallas opened strong with good performances from WR Calvin Johnson (17), QB Philip Rivers (14) and K John Kasay (10), a late add since Dallas failed to draft a kicker. RB Rashard Mendenhall’s -1 point production — and the Steeler’s meltdown in Baltimore — must be a bit disconcerting here. LONGFELLOWS: Last year’s points champion did not get out of the gate strong for 2011. K Sebastian Janikowski’s 15-point effort was the team’s high score. Zero points combined from Shonn Greene and Chris Johnson had to be a big disappointment for Longfellow fans. Bench QB Chad Henne’s 29 points surprised many.
HVV Violence 57
BOB Big Bang 35
VIOLENCE: Off-season acquisition QB Matthew Stafford had a big game, posting 19 points for Happy Valley. Many people think Detroit will surprise this year, but Stafford has to stay on the field. He could have a big year. WRs Andre Johnson and Reggie Wayne each contributed 11 points, but Violence RBs combined scored only 6 points. BIG BANG: The Bang wasn’t so Big in Week 1. RB Stephen Jackson scored 8, as did WR Hakeem Nicks, to lead Oregon. QB Ben Roethlisberger disappointed with only 4 points. TE Aaron Hernandez had 11 points sitting on the bench, while bench RB Cadillac Williams surprised and could get some starting time in this lineup.
MER Mustangs 53
NCT Thorobreds 36
MUSTANGS: QB Drew Brees looks poised for another monster season and scored nearly half the Mustang’s points in week one with 26. WR Steve Johnson added 8. Three Mustang RBs combined for only 8 points, though. THOROBREDS: QB Joe Flacco’s demolition of the Steelers paced New Chester, leading the team with 14 points. RB James Stark added 8, while WR Plaxico Burress’s 8 points remained on the bench.
