Those pinball point producing players were at it again this week — Terrell Owens, Randy Moss, Tom Brady … all scoring in the 30s individually, helping the Griffins to an 80-51 rout of the Mustangs and the Beach Dudes 92-67 thumping of Happy Valley. MassIll tightened things up in their divisional race with Oregon, as the Mud knocked off the first-place Big Bang 56-35.

Just a quick note to remind all owners that the trade deadline is kickoff week 11 — this Sunday. The trade deadline means several things:

• No trades after the deadline
• Anyone added to a roster after the trade deadline is not eligible to be protected for next season
• Waiver periods end at the trade deadline — drop/add reverts back to first-come, first-serve

The Orange County Beach Dudes’ ride to a record-breaking season hit a rogue wave this weekend, as the Dudes lost to the Boston Wildcats 64-46. Orange County was without the pinball point producing pair of QB Tom Brady and WR Randy Moss, as they sat during the Patriots’ bye week. Boston took advantage with strong outings from WR Reggie Wayne, QB Derek Anderson, and RBs Maurice Jones-Drew and Ryan Grant, all 4 scoring in double-digits. OCD’s record drops to 8-2, but they remain 2 games ahead of Happy Valley in the Cappelletti Division, as the Violence dropped a low-scoring affair to Syracuse.

Both Oregon and Philadelphia will retain their division leads with wins this week. The Griffins were firing on all cylinders, with 6 players in double-digits en route to an 85-48 thrashing of the MassIll Mud. The Mud’s loss now drops them 2 games behind the Big Bang in the Engle Division standings. Meanwhile, Philadelphia retains a one game lead in the Paterno Division.

With only 4 weeks to go in the regular season, the division leaders all look well-positioned for a run at the playoffs. It could be a truly wild year for the wild card race, however, as there are currently 6 teams within a game of each other for the wild card spot.

While the New England Patriots proved they are the team to beat in the NFL this season, the Orange County Beach Dudes have solidified their position as the team to beat in the FFL. The Beach Dudes waxed their surf boards with the Richburgh Raptors this weekend, posting a record 4th game of over 100 points this season in an easy 108-19 win. Rookie RB Adrian Peterson’s monster game for the Vikings (which set an NFL single-game rushing record) lead the way for the Beach Dudes with 47 points — just 3 points short of the all-time FFL individual high points record of 50 (a record shared by RB Mike Anderson for the BOS Wildcats in 2000/wk14 and RB Clinton Portis for the NCT Thorobreds in 2003/wk14).

Philadelphia will keep a 1-game lead in the Paterno division this week despite a 62-52 loss to Miami, because both Keystone and Boston both lost and failed to gain ground on the Griffins. The Big Oregon Bang now is sole possessor of the 2nd-best record in the league, upping their mark to 7-2 after an 87-35 win over Dallas.

It was exactly an average day at the beach for the Beach Dudes this week. The team that’s averaging 85.25 points per week rolled to an 86-59 win over the Miami Muffdivers. Dudes co-owner Dan Callahan was not impressed, however, and was overheard berating his team for failing to score 100 points again this week. Observers said Callahan’s tirade included some flying chairs and lots of choice words. Orange County’s week 1 55-54 loss to Syracuse remains the only blemish on their 7-1 record.

And it’s beginning to look like the points race will be a race for 2nd place. Orange County is on pace to score 1449 points — the league record is 1209 points (Griffins in 1998). The Dudes are nearly on a pace to break the all-time points record by the end of the regular season.

Philadelphia, meanwhile, will fail to keep pace with Orange County. The Griffins lost to the Keystone Longfellows 61-27. Philadelphia will drop to 6-2, while Keystone is now a game back in the Paterno Division at 5-3.

Oregon will wrestle the Engle Division lead from MassIll, as the Big Bang beats the Mud this week. BOB ups their record to 6-2 while MassIll will fall to 4-2-2.

The Orange County Beach Dudes have posted a 100+ point game again — the first team in league history to ever top 100 three times in a season. OCD beat MER 103-26. OCD stretches their lead in the Cappelletti Division to 2 games over Happy Valley, who lost to the Griffins 48-20. Philadelphia keeps a 2 game lead in the Paterno Division and keeps pace with OCD as the only two teams at 6-1.

MassIll Mud maintains a statistical edge over the Big Bang in the Engle Division standings. MIM runs their record to 4-1-2 after beating the Thorobreds 61-54, while BOB is now 5-2 after thumping the Wildcats 74-53.

Orange County is shaping up as a team that will challenge for a Fantasy Bowl and probably challenge several points records along the way. The Beach Dudes scored 133 points this week — the third highest single week in league history. (Boston’s 142 points in 2000/wk14 is the record – see all 100+ point games.) It’s OCD’s second 100+ point game this year, and it’s only week 6. OCD is averaging 82 points per game. Contributing across the board were #1 pick Adrian Peterson (38), Tom Brady (31), TJ Houshmandzadeh (23) Braylon Edwards (20) and Randy Moss (8). Happy Valley kept pace at 1 game back of OCD thanks to Amani Toomer’s 11-point Monday night effort, leading a 60-51 comeback win over Miami.

Philadelphia keeps pace with Orange County as the only teams at 5-1. The Griffins scored 88 points — predominantly thanks to LaDainian Tomlinson’s league-high 41 points — as PHI beat the Thorobreds 88-40.

Boston posted the third-highest score on the week beating Syracuse 61-29. The Wildcats will get back to .500 with a 3-3 record. Oregon’s 45-42 win puts the Big Bang at 4-2 in the Engle Division, and they are tied (by percentage) with MassIll, who notched their second tie game of the season, finishing deadlocked 41-41 with Richburgh. MIM’s record is now 3-1-2.

The Boston Wildcats snapped a 3-game losing streak and finally found a pulse in their running game, with a 53-38 win over the Miami Muffdivers. Boston’s 53 points is the second-highest score of the week (behind the Griffins’ 56) in a rather low-scoring week.

Division leaders Orange County and Philadelphia both move to 4-1 on the season, while Happy Valley’s bid to join the 4-1 club was rejected by Cowboy TE Jason Whitten’s 11-point effort which helped Richburgh notch it’s first victory on the year, 43-39 over HVV. The Mud’s Tony Romo nailed the victory for MIM, which moves to 3-1-1 atop the Engle Division.

We have two teams scoring over 100 points in a high-offense weekend. The Beach Dudes’s 110 points ties the 9th highest single week score in league history. The Mud was the tough luck recipient of OCD’s drubbing, posting a loss while scoring 83 points.

The Froglickers also have a 100+ point week, beating the Wildcats 108-32. Only once in league history have two teams scored 100+ in the same week — in week 8 of 2004 the Big Bang scored 109 and Richmond (now Richburgh) scored 101.

QB Tony Romo and WR Plaxico Burress are fastest out of the gate in week one, each posting the top individual score (so far) of 29 points. Benefitting from those are points are Romo’s MIM Mud and Burress’ NCT Thorobreds — each team leading going into the Monday night games.

WR Randy Moss also posted a huge week — 20 points — but unfortunately for the OCD Beach Dudes, Moss was sitting on the bench kickoff weekend. It would seems the Patriots’ fooled the Jets and the Beach Dudes with Moss’ health status this week. The Dudes also left Tennessee RB Chris Brown’s 17 points on the bench.

Richburgh is also singing the bench woes, leaving WR Ronald Curry and TE Jason Witten (14 points each) on the bench.

The spreadsheet is available in the “Download Documents” section, which is linked in the user menu. Remember, you must log in to access downloadable files and submit lineups and transactions. We are taking anti-spam measures very seriously from now on.

Watch for the section under the User Login box (in the right column) for news alerts and any other special announcements throughout the course of the season. For instance, there is a Thursday night game this week to start the season, so that is noted in the current news alert. We’ve also made some menu changes, moving the “Search” option to the upper right corner, and simplifying the text labels for the main menu. Archives are still split between the new site and the old site. The old site is linked from the Archives page, and it is my hope to get ALL the archive content (including news stories from the old paper issues of FFF) onto this new site by the end of this season.

There’s been more wheeling and dealing as the roster protection deadline gets closer. Late Thursday, it was reported that the defending champion Philadelphia Griffins shipped WR Randy Moss to the Orange County Beach Dudes. It’s the third pre-season deal for the Dudes, who will add Moss to a lineup that also includes recent acquisitions Kevin Jones and Marion Barber. “We are moving up!” claims Dude co-owner Ross Hessler.

On the east coast, “Here come the Frog Lickers!” is the proclamation from Frelinghuysen owner David Zilberfarb, who made his third pre-season move by landing QB Donovan McNabb in a trade with the Keystone Longfellows. KEY gets the #12 overall pick and could potentially move up a pick in the 2008 draft depending on how KEY and FFL finish in the final 2007 standings. McNabb will lead a roster that also includes recent acquisitions Shaun Alexander and Donald Driver.

Details, as always, are on the transactions page (linked at left). And rumor has it, more potential trades are on the front burner as the Sunday noon (EST) deadline approaches.

The Big Oregon Bang pulled the trigger on the offseason’s biggest trade so far, sending RB Shaun Alexander to the Froglickers. The price for Shaun Alexander: moving up 10 picks in the first round, to the #2 overall slot. It would seem the Big Bang are yet again targeting another high-profile rookie running back, as they did last year with Laurence Maroney. Now the question is: who will be available at #2 — Adrian Peterson or Marshawn Lynch? At this point, only the Orange County Beach Dudes know.

And speaking of the Dudes, they also pulled off a trade with the very-active Froglickers. Orange County sends WR Donald Driver to the Froglickers for RB Kevin Jones and a 2008 4th-round pick.

Both these trades were posted Wednesday. Earlier this week, the Dudes traded QB Jon Kitna to Syracuse for RB Marion Barber. Blizzard owner Doug Weaver is done playing the platoon game with Cowboys running backs, apparently settling on Julius Jones.
