Muffdivers to face Griffins for the Championship

The top two seeds were easily toppled in the semifinals, as the Big Bang fell 122-70.5 to Miami, and the Froglickers lost 92-85 to Philadelphia. That leaves us with a rematch of the 2007 Fantasy Bowl, as Miami with face Philadelphia for the championship.

Miami’s score of 122 points fell one short of tying the record highest score for a playoff game, which is 123 points by the Blowfish in the 2020 semifinals.

Miami is looking for the franchise’s first-ever Fantasy Bowl win. The Muffdivers have only appeared in two previous Fantasy Bowls: losing 78-37 to Philadelphia in the aforementioned 2007 title game, and a 84-70.5 loss to the Armadillos in 2022.

Meanwhile, the Griffins are making their record 12th appearance in the Fantasy Bowl, with 4 wins and 7 losses in their previous 11 contests. With a win, the Griffins would tie both the Mud and the Blowfish franchises, who have 5 championship wins each.

All playoff teams will be in action this week to determine the championship and top six places.

In the points race, four teams are still in contention for the top two spots. The Griffins (1278) hold an 11-point edge over the Muffdivers (1267), but the Armadillos (1247.5) and Big Bang (1238) are both still within easy striking distance with two weeks remaining. All other teams are more than 100 points off the lead.

Game Recaps by CBS AI Fantasy Football Sports Reporters

Frelinghuysen Froglickers took yet another hit to the loss column, while Philadelphia Griffins won their 4th in a row. That and more in this week’s Around the League report.

Flawless

Perfect lineup and Matthew Stafford’s performance give Philadelphia Griffins the win

Philadelphia Griffins exceeded their expectations for four straight weeks coming into this game, did it again, and were rewarded with a victory. They made it past Frelinghuysen Froglickers (8 – 6), winning 92 to 85. Philadelphia Griffins were able to give Frelinghuysen Froglickers some payback for their week nine matchup, when Frelinghuysen Froglickers crushed Philadelphia Griffins 95 to 52.

The game leaves both these teams streaking in opposite directions. The victory makes it four in a row for Philadelphia Griffins. The defeat puts Frelinghuysen Froglickers on a three game losing streak.

Philadelphia Griffins had never lost when Matthew Stafford overperformed his expectations, and that held true again this week. Stafford joined up with Bijan Robinson to score 57% of Philadelphia Griffins’ points. Stafford himself scored 31 points, which were the most of any quarterback this week. He threw for 457 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions… and lost by one point.

Lamar Jackson has been dead weight throughout Frelinghuysen Froglickers’s losing streak, and this week brought more of the same. Jackson stuck out as the worst performer, delivering zero points. Coach David Zilberfarb have to be used to bad scores from Jackson, who has been the worst performer on Frelinghuysen Froglickers more times than any other player. He only completed seven passes before leaving the game due to a back injury.

On the coaching front, one coach’s brilliance, and another’s ineptitude, were demonstrated this week. Coach Nicholas Fisher followed the experts’ advice for each position and ended up with a perfect lineup. That makes it back-to-back perfect lineups for Coach Fisher.

Coach Zilberfarb could have made Coach Fisher pay if they set the best possible lineup. Coach Zilberfarb went with Dallas Goedert over the higher ranked Brock Bowers.

This decision shaved 1 point from Frelinghuysen Froglickers’ score. If Coach Zilberfarb had left Goedert on the bench and also started Aaron Rodgers, Frelinghuysen Froglickers would have won the game.

James Cooks

James Cook drops 22.5 points in leading Miami Muffdivers to victory

Big Oregon Bang finished the regular season #1. Unfortunately, that didn’t count for much this week. They were left in ruins, losing 122 to 70.5 to Miami Muffdivers. Big Oregon Bang blew out Miami Muffdivers back in week twelve, so the turnabout this week was fair play.

The win was Miami Muffdivers’ 3rd in their last four games, bringing their record to 10 – 5. The loss drops Big Oregon Bang’s record to 9 – 5.

Miami Muffdivers had two main stars in Christian McCaffrey and James Cook, who together dropped 47.5 points. Run CMC’s 25 point performance is no surprise, as he is currently the 3rd best player in the league. His big night put him over 1,800 yards from scrimmage for the 5th time in his career.

Coach Wayne rupert will find no easy scapegoat for this week’s loss. Big Oregon Bang were brought down by five underperformers, the worst of whom was TreVeyon Henderson (0.5 points). This is the 4th time this year that he was the worst starter on his team, which is more than any other player on Big Oregon Bang.

Coach Rupert has to look in the mirror for part of the blame for this week’s loss. He left Justin Herbert and Michael Wilson on the bench in favor of Baker Mayfield and Henderson, who were both expected to score less.

These decisions took a 25.5 point chunk out of Big Oregon Bang’s final score, which ultimately didn’t make a difference in the final outcome. Coach Rupert’s lineup moves pushed him into negative territory for the season, costing his team 13 points versus what the experts would have done.
