Game recaps by CBS Fantasy Football AI Sports Reporters

Big Oregon Bang won their 5th in a row, while Boxboro Blowfish took yet another hit to the loss column. That plus a crushing loss for Happy Valley Violence in this week’s ‘Around the League’ report.

I’ll Have Another

A.J. Brown and Big Oregon Bang take down Connecticut Wildcats for their 5th win in a row

Coming into the game, Big Oregon Bang had scored the most points of any team over the last three weeks. They didn’t knock it out of the park this week, but that wasn’t necessary. Coach Wayne rupert’s team wound up with a solid victory against Connecticut Wildcats, winning 71.5 to 58.5. Big Oregon Bang took over the top spot in total points with that 71.5 point effort.

That’s five straight wins for Big Oregon Bang, for those of you counting, which brings their record to 8 – 4. The loss was Connecticut Wildcats’ 3rd in their last four games, bringing their record to 6 – 6.

Big Oregon Bang had the good fortune of having the league’s best player this week in A.J. Brown. Brown made it rain for Big Oregon Bang, scoring 27 points. That gave him the most points on Big Oregon Bang for the first time this season. He showed off his sure hands as he came down with this 33-yard TD.

Connecticut Wildcats had never won when Tez Johnson failed to hit his expected points, and that held true again this week. Johnson was the worst of five underperformers, tallying 0.5 points.

Big Oregon Bang will face off against Mercer Mustangs next week. These two teams squared off in week one, when Big Oregon Bang won 58.5 to 51.5. Meanwhile, Connecticut Wildcats will be playing Happy Valley Violence.

One Sided Affair

Jameson Williams leads Keystone Longfellows in an easy win

After losing last week while scoring their lowest point total for the year, Coach Terry Muth were no doubt looking for a solid performance from their squad this week. Well, Keystone Longfellows responded, scoring their highest point total for the season. They made it look easy against Orange Co. Beach Dudes, winning 97.5 to 64.5. No other team dominated the opposition so completely this week.

The game leaves both teams squared up at six wins and six losses.

Jameson Williams did about as good for Keystone Longfellows this week as he did bad last week. Although Keystone Longfellows had plenty of players step up in the win, Williams was the first among equals, totaling 20.5 points. That’s the most points that he’s scored this year. Williams was forced into the WR1 role and promptly posted season-highs in catches (7) and receiving yards (144).

Like Keystone Longfellows but in reverse, Orange Co. Beach Dudes really lost this game as a team. They had five underperformers, with Ashton Jeanty (4 points) being the worst.[1] Jeanty’s 4 points made him the worst starter on his team for the 2nd time this season. His performances have been a good barometer for Orange Co. Beach Dudes this season, as they have gone 1 – 5 when he fails to meet his expectations, and 4 – 1 when he meets them.

In addition to the loss, Coaches dan callahan and Ross Hessler didn’t exactly bolster their ‘Coach of the Year’ campaign. They left Courtland Sutton and Trevor Lawrence on the bench in favor of Wan’Dale Robinson and Jacoby Brissett, who were both expected to score less.

These terrible decisions took a 9 point chunk out of Orange Co. Beach Dudes’ final score, which ultimately didn’t make a difference in the final outcome. It did make it back-to-back weeks now where Coaches dan callahan and Ross Hessler have cost their team points.

Easy Does It

Mercer Mustangs gets a solid effort from Nico Collins

It wasn’t anything to write home about, but Mercer Mustangs got the victory against Chicago Mud, winning 54.5 to 50. The win brings Mercer Mustangs’ record to 7 – 5, while dropping Chicago Mud to an identical 7 – 5.

Nico Collins was the clear leader on Mercer Mustangs this week, producing 14.5 points. This is the 3rd time this year that Collins has led Mercer Mustangs.

Meanwhile, Chicago Mud saw six different players underperform, and while none of them particularly stuck out, Michael Pittman and his 0.5 points was officially the worst. That’s the fewest points that he’s scored this year.

The strength of schedule diverges for these squads next week. Mercer Mustangs will be playing Big Oregon Bang. Bad timing for Mercer Mustangs, as Big Oregon Bang will come into the matchup on a five game winning streak. Big Oregon Bang will get to slot Jahmyr Gibbs into the lineup, who has been the best player in the league over the past three weeks.

As for Chicago Mud, they will square off against Boxboro Blowfish next week. Good timing, as Boxboro Blowfish will come into the matchup on a six game losing streak.

I Got This

D’Andre Swift calls his own number to earn a win

After coming up with all of -0.5 points last week, D’Andre Swift came up clutch this week. Swift led the way as New Chester Thorobreds made it past Boxboro Blowfish, winning 47 to 43.5. A good performance by Swift has been crucial for New Chester Thorobreds all year, as they have gone 4 – 3 when he exceeds expectations, and 0 – 3 when he doesn’t. He returned to his hometown and exploded, posting 138 total yards and a TD.

There were five underperformers keeping New Chester Thorobreds from a proper victory, with Will Reichard (zero points) being the worst of them. Reichard’s zero point performance made him the worst performer on New Chester Thorobreds for the first time this year.

Meanwhile, Boxboro Blowfish had two players bring nothing to the table, with Zay Flowers and Amon-Ra St. Brown both producing big fat 0’s. St. Brown fell farther short of his expected points than any other player this week. He didn’t record a catch before leaving Thursday’s game with an ankle injury.

Boxboro Blowfish also had to deal with a poor effort from Saquon Barkley (8.5 points below expected). It’s yet another disappointing day for Barkley, who has now underperformed the experts’ predictions in four straight games.

With the win, New Chester Thorobreds have now won four out of their last five games, bringing their record to 6 – 6. The defeat is the 6th in a row for Boxboro Blowfish, which leaves them with a 3 – 9 record.

Showtime

Patrick Mahomes’ 22 points sinks Frelinghuysen Froglickers

Frelinghuysen Froglickers had the best record in the league coming into this game, but unfortunately for Coach David Zilberfarb, the past was not prelude. Frelinghuysen Froglickers got beat by Miami Muffdivers, 57.5 to 48.5. Frelinghuysen Froglickers have now failed to top their projections in any of the past four weeks.

The loss drops Frelinghuysen Froglickers’ record to 8 – 4, while the win brings Miami Muffdivers to a matching 8 – 4.

Patrick Mahomes was expected to be the top performing QB this week, and that’s exactly what he was. Showtime was the key contributor for Miami Muffdivers, racking up 22 points. That’s all in a day’s work for the 2nd best quarterback in the league. He tossed four TDs, but his best play might’ve been this huge completion out of the pocket.

Meanwhile, there’s no pointing fingers in Frelinghuysen Froglickers’ loss as they failed all over the place. They were brought down by five underperformers, the worst of whom was Lamar Jackson (2 points).1 Jackson has now been the worst performing starter in the league over the last three weeks. He probably wished the tuck rule was still around after this head-scratching fumble.

Next week, Frelinghuysen Froglickers will take on the 6 – 6 New Chester Thorobreds. The contest will see some top shelf WR play, as Jaxon Smith-Njigba meets up with George Pickens.

Meanwhile, Miami Muffdivers will collide with Dallas Armadillos next week. Miami Muffdivers won’t have Christian McCaffrey available to start in that contest.

No Threat

Rashee Rice and Philadelphia Griffins skate past Happy Valley Violence

This was expected to be a blowout, and Philadelphia Griffins didn’t disappoint. They crushed Happy Valley Violence, winning 84.5 to 60. Just another good result from the leagues’ all-time leader in winning percentage.

The win gets Philadelphia Griffins back to .500 with a 6 – 6 record. The loss drops Happy Valley Violence’s record to 3 – 9.

Philadelphia Griffins have been relying on Bijan Robinson all year, and he came through again this week. Robinson joined up with Rashee Rice to score 53% of Philadelphia Griffins’ points. Robinson himself scored 22.5 points, which topped all running backs this week. He already had 150 scrimmage yards when he punched in this go-ahead touchdown.

Meanwhile, Coaches Chris Paret, Jeffrey Ozarski, and John Trzeciak can blame the loss on David Njoku, DJ Moore, and Harrison Butker, who together managed only 6 points. Njoku has now underperformed the league average tight end in four straight games.

Two 6 – 6 teams will do battle next week when Philadelphia Griffins takes on Orange Co. Beach Dudes. As for Happy Valley Violence, they will match up with Connecticut Wildcats.

Armadillos Are Big on the Bye

Dallas was on the bye this week, and was eliminated from playoff contention … and managed to post the second-highest score of the week in the process, notching an impressive 95 points. When Puca Nacua scores only 7 points and it’s your low score on the roster, you had a good week.
