Game recaps by CBS Fantasy Football AI Sports Reporters

Happy Valley Violence took yet another hit to the loss column, while Keystone Longfellows won their 3rd in a row. Meanwhile, New Chester Thorobreds beat Dallas Armadillos within an inch of their lives as part of this week’s exciting action.

One Sided Affair

Chicago Mud had no chance as Christian McCaffrey got the job done

This was expected to be a blowout, and Miami Muffdivers didn’t disappoint. They demolished Chicago Mud, winning 75 to 45. Miami Muffdivers took over the top spot in total points with that 75 point effort.

The loss makes it three in a row for Chicago Mud, which gives them a 6 – 4 record. The win brings Miami Muffdivers to 7 – 3.

Miami Muffdivers have been relying on Christian McCaffrey all year, and he came through again this week. Run CMC was a one-man wrecking crew, putting up 27.5 points. It’s another fine effort from McCaffrey, who is currently the 2nd best player in the league. He couldn’t wait to get going this week, scoring 16 seconds into the game (he’d finish the game with three total TDs).

Meanwhile, it will be difficult for Coach Ronnie Feldman to fault any one player for the loss. Caleb Williams was the worst of a six man group of underperformers on Chicago Mud, racking up only 3 points.[1] Williams has now been the worst starter on his team three times this season.

This week’s bad decisions are nothing new for Coach Feldman, as he has been the worst gameday coach in the league. He started Williams instead of Brock Purdy, despite the experts’ prediction that Purdy should have played.

This decision shaved 12 points from Chicago Mud’s score, which–thankfully for Coach Feldman–didn’t matter much this game. It did make it back-to-back weeks now where Coach Feldman has cost his team points.

I’ll Have Another

TreVeyon Henderson and Big Oregon Bang take down Happy Valley Violence for their 3rd win in a row

Big Oregon Bang had never lost when TreVeyon Henderson overperformed his expectations, and that held true again this week. Henderson was the key component as Big Oregon Bang (6 – 4) destroyed Happy Valley Violence (2 – 8), winning 72.5 to 41. His 24.5 point performance made him the top performer on Big Oregon Bang for the first time this year. He cut right through the Jets defense to punch in his second rushing TD of the day.

Although Coach Wayne rupert got the win, he cannot have been happy with Justin Herbert’s performance this week. Herbert failed to show up, scoring -1 points. He was pulled in the fourth quarter after posting a mere 81 passing yards.

Coaches Chris Paret, Jeffrey Ozarski, and John Trzeciak saw some familiar names among their bad players this week. Jacory Croskey-Merritt, David Montgomery, and Rashid Shaheed continued to disappoint, combining for 4 points. Montgomery has now failed to top the league average running back in five straight games.

Happy Valley Violence did get some solace this week in the form of Travis Kelce, who came up with 16.5 points. Kelce set his high mark for the season with that effort.

Both squads keep their momentum (or in the case of Happy Valley Violence, “momentum”) going as a result of this match. The victory makes it three in a row for Big Oregon Bang. This loss brings Happy Valley Violence’s losing streak to five in a row.

Dialed In

Boxboro Blowfish couldn’t handle Nico Collins as Mercer Mustangs gets the win

After losing three straight games, Coaches cathy weaver and Doug Weaver’s squad figured: ‘Why not another?’ Boxboro Blowfish were on the losing side of a blowout, falling 55.5 to 32.5 at the hands of Mercer Mustangs. The 32.5 points Boxboro Blowfish scored are the 2nd fewest that any team has scored this season.

The loss drops Boxboro Blowfish to 3 – 7, and sinks them to the bottom of our internal power rankings. The win brings Mercer Mustangs to 6 – 4.

Nico Collins was the key contributor for Mercer Mustangs, scoring 16.5 points. That makes it three straight games where Collins has outperformed the league average wide receiver. More good might be coming from Collins, who has improved his performance in each of the last three weeks.

Meanwhile, Chuba Hubbard and Khalil Shakir both failed to come up with more than 0.5 points for Boxboro Blowfish this week. Bad performances are pretty common these days for Shakir, who has now underperformed the experts’ predictions in three straight games. He had a career (worst) day, losing three yards on the one pass he managed to catch.

Boxboro Blowfish will face off against Connecticut Wildcats next week. Points were in short supply for that team this week, as they could only scrounge up 40 of them. Boxboro Blowfish have now been the favorite in both their last two games, and failed to perform both times. The experts might not give them the benefit of the doubt in their next one (regardless of Connecticut Wildcats’ issues).

Coach Jim Waugh can’t let his team get overconfident, as they face much tougher competition over the next three weeks than they did in their win against Boxboro Blowfish this week, starting with Frelinghuysen Froglickers next week. Frelinghuysen Froglickers comes into the match on a three game winning streak.

Getting Up Off the Mat

Jason Myers and Keystone Longfellows comeback strong

Keystone Longfellows got past Philadelphia Griffins with points to spare, winning 91 to 77. Keystone Longfellows set their new high mark for the season with those 91 points.

Keystone Longfellows have now won three games in a row, which brings their record to 5 – 5. The loss drops Philadelphia Griffins back below .500 at 5 – 6.

Keystone Longfellows, who were a 9 point underdog coming into the game, got off to a so-so start early. The tag team of Drake Maye and Justin Jefferson was good for all of 15.5 points between them. Underperforming is the new normal for Maye, who has gone three straight games without hitting his projected point total.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia Griffins were showing Coach Terry Muth how it’s supposed to be done. Bijan Robinson led the charge, scoring 22 points. Robinson’s performance this week ended a three game streak of failing to hit his projections.

Travis Etienne helped early on Sunday as well, scoring 7.5 more points than expected. Etienne wouldn’t be denied as he fought his way to the pylon to score.

Going into late Sunday, our projections gave Keystone Longfellows only a 4.2% chance of winning. Coach Muth’s squad blew those projections out of the water. Four players for Keystone Longfellows beat their projections, with Jason Myers scoring 8 points more than expected. It was enough to give Keystone Longfellows an unlikely victory.

Right Idea, Wrong Team

Josh Allen and New Chester Thorobreds flip the script against Dallas Armadillos this week

This was expected to be a blowout and it was. The surprise was who blew out who. New Chester Thorobreds (5 – 5) took everything from Dallas Armadillos (4 – 7) but the kitchen sink this week, winning 108.5 to 52. New Chester Thorobreds have now scored 175 points over the last two weeks, which is quite a turnaround given that they were the 2nd lowest scoring team in the league at the beginning of that stretch.

The result fits the recent pattern for both of these teams. The win makes it three in a row for New Chester Thorobreds. The defeat puts Dallas Armadillos on a three game losing streak.

Two of the key players in this fight were real-life teammates, as New Chester Thorobreds’ George Pickens squared off against Javonte Williams. While they were on the same team, they sure didn’t deliver the same result. For George Pickens’ part, he tallied 21.5 points for New Chester Thorobreds. Pickens somehow managed to turn this simple curl route into a 37-yard touchdown.

On the other hand, Javonte Williams was not living up to his star status, totaling only 7.5 points. That’s the 3rd worst game that Williams has produced this year.

The rest of Coaches mike white and Rich Sladic’s lineup followed Pickens’ lead, scoring 87 more points. Of that crew, Josh Allen led the way with 37 points. No other quarterback has scored more points than that this season.

Easy Does It

Derrick Henry led the charge for Frelinghuysen Froglickers

Coming into the game, Frelinghuysen Froglickers had scored the second most points of any team over the last three weeks. This week they didn’t get much, but it didn’t matter at all. Coach David Zilberfarb’s team earned a nice victory over Connecticut Wildcats, winning 48 to 40. The two teams combined to score the fewest points this season.

Thanks to the loss, Connecticut Wildcats have now come out on the losing end of three of their last four games, moving their record to 5 – 5. The win brings Frelinghuysen Froglickers to 7 – 3.

Frelinghuysen Froglickers got a nice group performance in the win, as four players beat their positional averages. Derrick Henry was just a bit ahead of the others, scoring 15 points. This is the 3rd time this year that King Henry has paced Frelinghuysen Froglickers. His biggest play was this 59-yard dash, his longest run of the season.

Meanwhile, Ricky Pearsall and Tez Johnson both posted identical 0.5 point marks for Connecticut Wildcats this week. Pearsall managed one reception this week (for exactly 0 yards).

Next week, Connecticut Wildcats will be playing Boxboro Blowfish. Connecticut Wildcats might be feeling pretty confident about that game, as Boxboro Blowfish limps in on a four game losing streak. Meanwhile, Frelinghuysen Froglickers will take on Mercer Mustangs.

Beach Dudes Catch a Point in Bye Week

Orange County caught a friendly wave as we had generally lower-than-average scores for many teams this week. The Beach Dudes scored 59.5, but that was enough to be in the top half of all teams, winning one point for the Dudes during their bye week.
