Game recaps by CBS Fantasy Football AI Sports Reporters

Philadelphia Griffins managed to pull off a victory over Miami Muffdivers despite scoring only 59 points. That plus a crushing loss for Big Oregon Bang in this week’s ‘Around the League’ report.

Do You Believe in Miracles?

David Montgomery says, “YES!”

It wasn’t too close for comfort, but it was still pretty close, as Happy Valley Violence beat Mercer Mustangs 69.5 to 64.5. The win brings Happy Valley Violence’s record to 1 – 2, while dropping Mercer Mustangs to an identical 1 – 2.

Happy Valley Violence, who the experts’ had as a 12 point favorite coming into the game, put forth a bad effort Sunday. Jordan Love and Nick Chubb both did poorly, together coming up with only 8.5 points. Love scored 5 points, which were fewer than every other quarterback this week.

Meanwhile, Mercer Mustangs were at least doing decent. Nico Collins drove the bus, scoring 16 points.

Going into Monday night, our projections gave Happy Valley Violence only a 2.2% chance of winning. David Montgomery had other ideas. Montgomery did 18.8 points better than he was expected to, which was enough to give Happy Valley Violence an unlikely victory.

Lamar Jackson helps Frelinghuysen Froglickers cruise to victory

Frelinghuysen Froglickers finished last season with the best record and is looking like a threat to repeat so far. They demolished Big Oregon Bang, winning 82.5 to 56.5. Frelinghuysen Froglickers have now exceeded the league average point total in three straight games.

The win brings Frelinghuysen Froglickers’ record to 2 – 0, while dropping Big Oregon Bang to 2 – 1.

Frelinghuysen Froglickers had several players step up in the win, as four starters beat their positional averages. Lamar Jackson was the best of the bunch, racking up 20 points. Jackson has now exceeded his points expectations in every game so far this year.

Frelinghuysen Froglickers also got a big effort from Cam Skattebo (10.2 points above expected). It’s hard to decide what’s more impressive: Skattebo’s rushing TD, or his celebration after. Frelinghuysen Froglickers won despite bad games from Jake Elliott and Ja’Marr Chase, who together scored 6.5 points.

Big Oregon Bang had plenty of duds in the loss. They were brought down by seven underperformers, the worst of whom was Troy Franklin (1 point). Big Oregon Bang did get some solace this week in the form of Jahmyr Gibbs, who came up with 19.5 points.

Three-peat

Jalen Hurts and Connecticut Wildcats make it three in a row against Orange Co. Beach Dudes

Jalen Hurts did about as good for Connecticut Wildcats this week as he did bad last week. Connecticut Wildcats got the job done against Orange Co. Beach Dudes, winning 73.5 to 64.5 behind 23 points from Hurts. No other quarterback scored more points than that this week. He exploded in the second half (209 yards, 3 passing TDs) to erase a 19-point deficit.

Connecticut Wildcats also got the benefit of the 3rd straight game that Emeka Egbuka exceeded his expectations. Coach Ron Yeany’s squad won despite bad games from James Conner, Malik Nabers, and Cam Little, who together tallied 6.5 points.

Meanwhile, Orange Co. Beach Dudes really lost this game as a team. They had five underperformers, with Breece Hall (2 points) being the worst. Kyler Murray added to Orange Co. Beach Dudes’ troubles, scoring 7 points. Murray has now failed to exceed the average quarterback’s point total in any week this year.

The victory makes it three in a row for Connecticut Wildcats, bringing their record to 3 – 0. The loss drops Orange Co. Beach Dudes’ record to 1 – 2.

Taylor Made

Jonathan Taylor drops 27.5 points in leading Chicago Mud to victory

Chicago Mud failed to show up for last week’s contest, but turned things way around this week. They got past Dallas Armadillos without much trouble, winning 94.5 to 73.5. The win brings Chicago Mud’s record to 2 – 1, while dropping Dallas Armadillos to 1 – 2.

Jonathan Taylor was the key contributor for Chicago Mud, scoring 27.5 points. Taylor topped all but one player this week with that performance. Two of his three touchdowns came from one yard away, but this one sure didn’t.

Meanwhile, CeeDee Lamb was clearly the weakest link for Coaches Paul Gilgallon and Sam McClain and the gang as he delivered zero points. Lamb fell farther short of his expected points than any other player this week. He was injured on the Cowboys’ first drive of the game before eventually being ruled out.

Chicago Mud will be going against Frelinghuysen Froglickers next week. Frelinghuysen Froglickers will come into the game undefeated.

Meanwhile, Dallas Armadillos will be playing Orange Co. Beach Dudes. Dallas Armadillos have now been the favorite in both their last two games, and failed to perform both times. The experts might not give them the benefit of the doubt in their next one.

Rome Odunze produces 10.5 points to lead Philadelphia Griffins in victory

By a score of 59 to 46.5, Philadelphia Griffins walked away victorious over Miami Muffdivers. Philadelphia Griffins won despite having the 4th lowest scoring total in the league this week. The win brings Philadelphia Griffins’ record to 2 – 1, while dropping Miami Muffdivers to 1 – 2.

Philadelphia Griffins, who were favored to win the game, did a decent job during Sunday’s main action. They were powered by Rome Odunze, who scored 10.5 points. Odunze has now exceeded the average wide receiver’s performance in every game so far this year.

Meanwhile, Miami Muffdivers decided the whole ‘scoring points’ thing was passe. Jerry Jeudy was the worst of a five man group of underperformers, scoring only 0.5 points.

Miami Muffdivers were also hurt by Stefon Diggs falling 5.9 points short of the average wide receiver. Diggsy has now failed to hit his expected points in any game so far this year.

Going into Sunday night’s game, Miami Muffdivers were already a long shot to win. After Patrick Mahomes scored only 7 points it was all she wrote.

20 points from Chase McLaughlin helps give Keystone Longfellows the win

After coming up with all of zero points last week, Chase McLaughlin came up clutch this week. McLaughlin led the way as Keystone Longfellows earned a nice victory over New Chester Thorobreds, winning 63.5 to 50. His 20 points were the most that any kicker collected this week.

Meanwhile, Coaches mike white and Rich Sladic can blame the loss on Tee Higgins, Brandon McManus, and D’Andre Swift, who together scored only 6 points. Higgins has now failed to hit his expected points in any game so far this year. Adding to their problems, New Chester Thorobreds’ tight end, Zach Ertz, was the worst at his position this week.

The win gets Keystone Longfellows back to .500 with a 1 – 1 record. The loss drops New Chester Thorobreds to 0 – 3, and sinks them to the bottom of our internal power rankings.

Blowfish sinks in Week 3

The Blowfish were on a bye this week and scored 61.5 points, which was not enough to get them into the top half of point-scoring teams. So Boxboro walk away with no points this week.
