Game recaps from CBS Fantasy Football AI Sports Reporters
Coaches Paul Gilgallon and Sam McClain outsmarted the experts to give their team the win over Philadelphia Griffins. That plus a very lucky win for Big Oregon Bang in this week’s report.
Better Lucky than Good
Marvin Harrison Jr. helps Big Oregon Bang to a lucky win
Big Oregon Bang came into the game as the biggest favorite this week and proceeded to make the experts look good. They slid by Mercer Mustangs, winning 58.5 to 51.5. Big time luck for Big Oregon Bang in this contest, as they would have lost against all but one other team.
Three players (Marvin Harrison Jr., Baker Mayfield, and Bucky Irving) delivered victory to Big Oregon Bang, getting 37.5 of their team’s 58.5 points.
Meanwhile, Bo Nix stuck out as the worst performer for Mercer Mustangs, producing only 3 points.[1] That performance was the worst of any player this week.[2]
Coach Jim Waugh could have won this game with the right lineup. He started Jake Ferguson instead of Jayden Reed, despite the experts’ prediction that Reed should have played.
This decision cost Mercer Mustangs a total of 6 points. If Coach Waugh had left Ferguson on the bench and also started Jahan Dotson, Mercer Mustangs would have won the game.

Michael Pittman helps deliver a win for Chicago Mud
Hopefully, Coach Pat landy is just getting his bad breaks out of the way early. Miami Muffdivers just didn’t have enough against Chicago Mud, losing 84.5 to 79.5. Tough luck loss for Miami Muffdivers, who would have won against eight other teams this week.
Chicago Mud were a picture of symmetry, winning with a very balanced lineup. Michael Pittman paced the team by beating the average wide receiver by 6.3 points, while Mike Evans (3.2 points worse than the average wide receiver) was the worst on the team.
Meanwhile, Miami Muffdivers were having trouble reaching paydirt, getting into the end zone only two times. That was the lowest TDs total of any team this week.
Next week, Miami Muffdivers will take on the 0 – 0 Keystone Longfellows. Keystone Longfellows not only lost this week, but scored fewer points than any other team.
Meanwhile, Chicago Mud will take on Connecticut Wildcats. Connecticut Wildcats might present a challenge, having posted the highest score this week.
Smooth Operator
Coaches Paul Gilgallon and Sam McClain and Puka Nacua secure the win
Forget the teams, it’s Coaches Paul Gilgallon and Sam McClain that are the big winner this week. They went with Javonte Williams over the higher ranked Jordan Mason.
This great decision netted Coaches Paul Gilgallon and Sam McClain an extra 10.5 points and was the difference in the game, as Dallas Armadillos squeaked past Philadelphia Griffins, winning 71.5 to 68.5.
Dallas Armadillos were led by the tag team of Puka Nacua and Williams, who together put up 31 points. Although Coaches Paul Gilgallon and Sam McClain got the win, they cannot have been happy with Joe Burrow’s performance this week. Burrow failed to show up, scoring 4 points. He could only muster 113 passing yards on Sunday, but on the bright side he survived the game.
Meanwhile, Coach Nicholas Fisher will have a hard time pinning the blame for this loss on any particular player. Philadelphia Griffins had five underperformers, with Jared Goff (7 points) being the worst.1 Philadelphia Griffins also had to deal with a poor effort from Tyreek Hill (7.4 points below expected).
Working It
Derrick Henry drops 26.5 points in leading Frelinghuysen Froglickers to victory
Frelinghuysen Froglickers took Boxboro Blowfish out of the playoffs last year, and went ahead and rubbed some salt in that wound this week. They wound up with a solid victory margin against Boxboro Blowfish, winning 82.5 to 73.5.
Derrick Henry was the key contributor for Frelinghuysen Froglickers, recording 26.5 points. King Henry topped all but one player this week with that performance. Even at 31 years old, he is nothing short of unstoppable.
Frelinghuysen Froglickers also got the highest score out of any tight end this week courtesy of Brock Bowers, who scored 9.5 points. Coach David Zilberfarb’s squad won despite bad games from Jerome Ford, Ja’Marr Chase, and DeVonta Smith, who together tallied 3 points. Chase had to have given the most disappointing performance, having been projected to score 14.1 points.
Meanwhile, Coaches cathy weaver and Doug Weaver can look to A.J. Brown and Amon-Ra St. Brown when passing out blame for the loss. The two combined to score only 3.5 points.
Bring the Pain
17 points from Emeka Egbuka helps give Connecticut Wildcats the win
Last year’s playoff loss at the hands of New Chester Thorobreds might still be ringing in Coach Ron Yeany’s ears, but he got some measure of revenge this week. Connecticut Wildcats strolled past New Chester Thorobreds, winning 87 to 68. The 87 points Connecticut Wildcats scored set the high mark for the league this week.
Connecticut Wildcats had all (well, most) hands on deck in this win, with six players beating their positional averages. Emeka Egbuka was the best of the bunch, totaling 17 points.[3] Egbuka didn’t take long to adjust to the NFL, scoring not one but two impressive touchdowns. Connecticut Wildcats also got a big effort from Cam Little (6.8 points above expected).
The only real damper on Connecticut Wildcats’ victory came from Cooper Kupp, who scored 1 point.
Meanwhile, this week’s loss for New Chester Thorobreds was a true group effort. Tyrone Tracy Jr. was the worst of a five man group of underperformers, racking up only 1 point.
Leave it to Me
Courtland Sutton takes control of the game as Orange Co. Beach Dudes wins
Orange Co. Beach Dudes didn’t have too much trouble with Happy Valley Violence this week, winning 68.5 to 51.
Orange Co. Beach Dudes won with a balanced effort, as five players outperformed their positional averages. Courtland Sutton was the first among equals, scoring 12 points. Coaches dan callahan and Ross Hessler’s squad overcame poor performances from Jaylen Waddle and Matt Gay (5 points combined) in getting this win.
Meanwhile, Coaches Chris Paret, Jeffrey Ozarski, and John Trzeciak will find no easy scapegoat for this week’s loss. Happy Valley Violence were brought down by five underperformers, the worst of whom was Terry McLaurin (1 point). Happy Valley Violence also had to deal with a bad performance from David Montgomery, who scored only 3 points. Happy Valley Violence only had one player who gave a passable performance this week, with Jacory Croskey-Merritt scoring 12 points.
Keystone takes a loss vs. 11-12 scoring average
Keystone scored 44.5 points. For the rivalry matchups in Week One, Keystone’s score is pitted against the average of the #11-#12 rivalry matchup. Dallas won that game 71.5 vs. Philadelphia’s 68.5 points. So Keystone takes a loss, 44.5-69. Team drink 😉
