Playoff outlook

The Monday night game this week appears to have no bearing on the outcome of this week’s games, so let’s take a look at the playoff hunt before we enter the final week of the regular season.

There’s not much mystery at this point — 5 of 6 playoff teams are locked in.

  1. Boxboro (9-3) has clinched their division and would be the #1 seed with a win in the final week.
  2. Miami (7-5) has clinched their division and will be the #3 seed regardless of the outcome of their final game.
  3. Frelinghuysen (9-3) is in and would clinch the division with a win.
  4. Chicago (8-4) is in and would clinch the division with a win plus an FFL loss.
  5. New Chester (8-5) has clinched a wild card spot and has a bye the final week.

The last spot will go to either Connecticut (7-5) or Mercer (6-6). The Wildcats control their fate — if they beat Miami in the final week, they are in as a wild card. But if the Wildcats lose and the Mustangs win, then Mercer would clinch the final playoff slot.
