Week 9 Recap

by CBS Fantasy Football AI Journalist

Frelinghuysen Froglickers won their 4th in a row, while Orange Co. Beach Dudes took yet another hit to the loss column. That and a lucky win for Miami Muffdivers in this week’s action.

Showstopper

Garrett Wilson’s 22.5 points sinks Chicago Mud

Mercer Mustangs were able to grind out a solid victory this week against Chicago Mud, winning by a score of 87 to 74.5. The win gets Mercer Mustangs back above .500 at 5 – 4. The loss drops Chicago Mud’s record to 6 – 2.

Mercer Mustangs finished Sunday’s main action with a respectable number of points. They were powered by Garrett Wilson, who scored 22.5 points. It’s only Week 9, but many are already calling this unbelievable Wilson grab the catch of the year.

Meanwhile, Chicago Mud were putting up a sub-par effort. Cameron Dicker really stunk it up, scoring zero points. Dicker’s performance this week broke his three game streak of surpassing the league average.

Chicago Mud were already facing long odds going into Sunday night’s game. Any hope they had left evaporated after Jonathan Taylor dropped only 4.5 points. A terrific performance for Chicago Mud by DeAndre Hopkins on Monday night was not nearly enough for a comeback.

All Too Easy

Zay Flowers helps Connecticut Wildcats cruise to victory

The experts had Connecticut Wildcats winning this one easy. The experts were all kinds of right. Connecticut Wildcats demolished Orange Co. Beach Dudes, winning 93 to 55. No other team dominated the opposition so completely this week.

The loss makes it three in a row for Orange Co. Beach Dudes, which leaves them with a 2 – 5 – 1 record. The win brings Connecticut Wildcats to 6 – 3.

Zay Flowers was the clear leader on Connecticut Wildcats this week, posting 23.5 points. That performance topped all but two players this week.(1) He embarrassed Denver’s D when he caught this pass and somehow slipped away for the score.

Meanwhile, Kyler Murray was clearly the weakest link for Coaches dan callahan and Ross Hessler and the gang as he produced zero points. That made Murray the worst starter this week. He failed to throw a touchdown on Sunday, a fact he sure can’t blame on his receivers.

Coaches dan callahan and Ross Hessler’s genius was on exhibition again this week, as they showed why they are the best gameday tactician in the league so far. They followed the experts’ advice for each position and ended up with a perfect lineup. They have now set the most perfect lineups of anyone in the league.

Star of the Show

Saquon Barkley scores 27.5 points to help put away Dallas Armadillos

Boxboro Blowfish had never lost when Saquon Barkley overperformed his expectations, and that held true again this week. SaQuads was the key component as Boxboro Blowfish got the job done against Dallas Armadillos, winning 80 to 70. His 27.5 point performance was the 2nd best of any player this week. He produced 199 total yards and two touchdowns on Sunday, but even more impressive was when he hurdled a defender…backwards.

Coaches cathy weaver and Doug Weaver’s squad overcame bad performances from three players: Dak Prescott, Tutu Atwell, and A.J. Brown, who collectively came up with 6.5 points. Unfortunately, more bad performances might be on tap for Brown, who has seen his point total drop in each of the last three weeks.

Meanwhile, Coaches Paul Gilgallon and Sam McClain can blame the loss on Will Reichard, Javonte Williams, and Puka Nacua, who together scored only 4.5 points. Coaches Paul Gilgallon and Sam McClain found out why Reichard was available on the waiver wire this week.

The win brings Boxboro Blowfish’s record to 5 – 3, while dropping Dallas Armadillos to 4 – 4.

Goin Streaking!

Derrick Henry and Frelinghuysen Froglickers take down Happy Valley Violence for their 4th win in a row

The experts predicted that Frelinghuysen Froglickers would have the most points this week. The experts were right. They made it look easy against Happy Valley Violence, winning 120.5 to 85.5. Frelinghuysen Froglickers’ point total was the 2nd highest of any team this season.

With the win, Frelinghuysen Froglickers continues their four-game streak of success, giving them a record of 7 – 1. The loss drops Happy Valley Violence back below .500 at 4 – 5.

Frelinghuysen Froglickers have been relying on Derrick Henry all year, and he came through again this week. Frelinghuysen Froglickers got good efforts from almost everyone on the squad, with seven players topping their positional averages. King Henry was the best of the bunch, dropping 21.5 points. He has now gone seven weeks without dipping below the average running back’s points. He scored his 100th career touchdown the same way he’s scored many others: simply smashing through defenders.

Meanwhile, Happy Valley Violence didn’t have anybody who was too hot, or too cold, but this Goldilocks outcome was not ‘just right’. Terry McLaurin topped the wide receiver average by 6.1 points to lead the team, while Romeo Doubs fell only 4.9 points short of the average WR in bringing up the rear.

Next week will see Frelinghuysen Froglickers taking on the 5 – 4 Mercer Mustangs. Mercer Mustangs will have to play without Jayden Reed, who has a bye week.

As for Happy Valley Violence, they will match up with Philadelphia Griffins next week. Coaches Chris Paret, Jeffrey Ozarski, and John Trzeciak are getting Philadelphia Griffins at the right time, as they will limp into next week’s game having posted less than 60 points each of the last two weeks.

Working It

Joe Burrow (24 points) leads Miami Muffdivers to a win over Keystone Longfellows

Hopefully Coach Landy has a good stock of antacid meds. The previous two games were close, and this week’s action was no different. Miami Muffdivers just barely got past Keystone Longfellows, winning 56 to 55 in the only close game this week. Miami Muffdivers won despite having the 4th lowest scoring total in the league this week.

The win brings Miami Muffdivers back to even at 4 – 4. The loss leaves Keystone Longfellows now with the worst record in the league at 2 – 7.

Joe Burrow was the key contributor for Miami Muffdivers, posting 24 points. That was the most that any quarterback collected this week. He tossed five touchdowns on Sunday, but he still wasn’t happy with the team’s performance.

Meanwhile, Keystone Longfellows really lost this game as a team. They were brought down by six underperformers, the worst of whom was Jordan Love (5 points).(2) Love has now been the worst starter on his team two times this season. The only “touchdown” he threw on Sunday was this awful pick-six.

Special Delivery

Rico Dowdle produces 14.5 points to lead New Chester Thorobreds in victory

New Chester Thorobreds had lost both matches against Big Oregon Bang last season, but finally got sweet revenge this week. New Chester Thorobreds ended up well ahead of Big Oregon Bang, winning 62 to 43.

New Chester Thorobreds improve to 4 – 5 after winning three out of their last four games. The loss drops Big Oregon Bang’s record to 3 – 5.

When Coaches mike white and Rich Sladic entertained thoughts of winning this game, they probably didn’t include the three players that ended up leading the way. Rico Dowdle scored 14.5 points, Josh Palmer came up with 10, and Jerry Jeudy finished with 7.5. Dowdle’s 14.5 point performance made him the top performer on New Chester Thorobreds for the first time this year.

Meanwhile, the loss for Big Oregon Bang came down to a pretty simple factor: they didn’t go anywhere. Collectively, they only managed to gain 216 yards rushing and receiving. That was the lowest yards gained total of any team this week.
