Jahmyr Gibbs led the charge for Big Oregon Bang in a one sided affair
Big Oregon Bang failed to show up for last week’s contest, but turned things way around this week. They pounded Orange Co. Beach Dudes into submission, winning 99 to 53.5. Big Oregon Bang set their new high mark for the season with those 99 points.
The loss drops Orange Co. Beach Dudes to the last spot in the Engle division at 2 – 3 – 1. The win brings Big Oregon Bang to 3 – 4.
This contest featured the top performing player this week in Jahmyr Gibbs, and not surprisingly, he played on the winning team.(1) Gibbs joined up with Tank Bigsby to post 47 points. Good performances are nothing new for Gibbs, who has been the top performer on Big Oregon Bang more times than any other player. He broke a few ankles on this huge run to get Detroit on the board on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Coaches dan callahan and Ross Hessler will find no easy scapegoat for this week’s loss. Sean Tucker was the worst of a five man group of underperformers on Orange Co. Beach Dudes, producing only 1.5 points.(2) Tucker might be heading back to the waiver wire after getting picked up before this game.
Even though only one coach walked away with the win, both made outstanding lineup decisions this week. Coach Rupert’s gameday decisions have been some of the best in the league this season, and this week showed why. He got every lineup spot right. Coach Rupert ought to take a lesson from the fact that taking risks worked out this week. His team has a much better record when he bucks the experts’ advice for at least one player
It was just another brilliant day at the office for Coaches dan callahan and Ross Hessler- the best gameday decision-makers in the league this season. They left Deshaun Watson and Jordan Whittington on the bench in favor of Kyler Murray and Sean Tucker, who were both expected to score less.
These great decisions gave Orange Co. Beach Dudes a nice 14.5 point bonus, which obviously wasn’t close to enough. Coaches dan callahan and Ross Hessler have now set more perfect lineups than any other coach in the league.
The Thrill of (a) Victory
Philadelphia Griffins gets a one week break from a bleak season
‘We can build on this.’ Philadelphia Griffins, who stumbled into week seven with the worst record in the league, better hope so. They got past Keystone Longfellows without much trouble, winning 57.5 to 42. Just another good result from the leagues’ all-time leader in winning percentage.
Philadelphia Griffins (finally!) got off the schneid with this win. They now sit at 1 – 6. The loss drops Keystone Longfellows to 2 – 5, and sinks them to the bottom of our internal power rankings.
Philadelphia Griffins got more than half their points from just two players: Brian Thomas Jr. and Bijan Robinson. Robinson racked up 143 total yards on Sunday, hardly surprising when he can dodge defenders like this.
Meanwhile, it will be difficult for Coach Terry Muth to fault any one player for the loss. Keystone Longfellows were brought down by seven underperformers, the worst of whom was Austin Ekeler (1 point).2 That makes it six straight games where Ekeler has underperformed the league average running back.
Next week will see Philadelphia Griffins taking on the 3 – 4 New Chester Thorobreds. Meanwhile, Keystone Longfellows will collide with Chicago Mud.
Cruising
Cameron Dicker and Chicago Mud get an easy win
Chicago Mud took on Happy Valley Violence two times last year and won each time. The result this week then, was not surprising. Chicago Mud gave Happy Valley Violence a 65.5 to 35.5 drubbing.
The loss drops Happy Valley Violence back below .500 at 3 – 4. The win brings Chicago Mud to 5 – 1.
Coach Ronnie Feldman picked up Cameron Dicker off the waiver wire this week and he paid immediate dividends. Dicker and Baker Mayfield were the standouts for Coach Feldman; the dynamic duo together accounted for 43 points. Dicker scored 21 points, which were the most that any kicker collected this week.
Meanwhile, C.J. Stroud stuck out as the worst performer for Happy Valley Violence, putting up zero points. Stroud’s performance this week definitively ended a three game streak of beating the experts’ projections. He completed less than half of his passes for a career-low 86 yards on Sunday.
The strength of schedule diverges for these squads next week. Chicago Mud will be playing Keystone Longfellows. That team is not coming in very hot, after finishing this week with only 42 points.
Happy Valley Violence will try to cool off Dallas Armadillos next week. Dallas Armadillos are coming in hot, having won four games in a row. These two teams squared off in week one, when Happy Valley Violence won easily.

Javonte Williams and Dallas Armadillos beat Mercer Mustangs for their 4th win in a row
Javonte Williams did about as good for Dallas Armadillos this week as he did bad last week. Williams led the way as Dallas Armadillos made it past Mercer Mustangs, winning 71 to 66. Those 20.5 points represent the most he’s had this year. Williams scored two touchdowns on Thursday, a feat made easier by New Orleans’ defense (or lack thereof).
Chris Boswell helped out as well, exceeding his projected point total by 6.2 points. Boswell has become something of a lodestar for Dallas Armadillos, as they have never lost when he overperforms his expectations, going 3 – 0.
Meanwhile, Coach Jim Waugh can blame the loss on Kirk Cousins, Jayden Reed, and Davante Adams, who together scored only 7.5 points. Bad performances are pretty common these days for Reed, who has now underperformed the experts’ predictions in three straight games.
The win brings Dallas Armadillos’ winning streak to four games, which brings their record to 4 – 2. The loss drops Mercer Mustangs’ record to 4 – 3.
Game of Inches
Tee Higgins’ 13 points were key in a tight game
In a game where both teams had a shot to win, New Chester Thorobreds handed Miami Muffdivers a tough 55.5 to 52 loss. Close games are nothing new to Coaches mike white and Rich Sladic, since New Chester Thorobreds has been involved in the most close games of any team in the league so far.
New Chester Thorobreds are now 3 – 4 after picking up their first back-to-back wins of the season. The loss drops Miami Muffdivers’ record to 2 – 4.
Tee Higgins led a very balanced group of four overperformers for New Chester Thorobreds this week, racking up 13 points.(3) That makes it three straight games of overperforming expectations for Higgins.
Meanwhile, there were plenty of chefs cooking up this week’s loss for Miami Muffdivers. They had seven underperformers, with Michael Wilson (0.5 points) being the worst. Wilson’s 0.5 points made him the worst starter on his team for the 2nd time this season.
On the coaching front, both sides made mistakes this week. Coaches mike white and Rich Sladic’s gameday decisions have been some of the worst in the league this season, and this week they showed why. They left Aaron Jones and his 7.1 expected points on the bench, favoring Tyrone Tracy Jr. (4.3 points expected).
This terrible decision shaved 13 points from New Chester Thorobreds’ score, which almost cost Coaches mike white and Rich Sladic’s team the game. This marks the 3rd straight week where Coaches mike white and Rich Sladic have cost their team points.
Coach Pat landy could have made Coaches mike white and Rich Sladic pay if he set the best possible lineup. Coach Landy went with Michael Wilson over the higher ranked Ladd McConkey.
This decision cost Miami Muffdivers a total of 3 points. If Coach Landy had left Wilson on the bench and also started Ray Davis, Miami Muffdivers would have won the game.
Too Hot to Handle
21.5 points from Derrick Henry helps give Frelinghuysen Froglickers the win
The experts predicted that Frelinghuysen Froglickers was going to have the easiest time of any team this week, and that now looks like a good call. They skated by Connecticut Wildcats pretty easily, winning 86.5 to 67. Frelinghuysen Froglickers’ 86.5 points didn’t just give them a win, but moved them into the top spot for points in the season as well.
The defeat is the 3rd in a row for Connecticut Wildcats, putting their record at 4 – 3. The win brings Frelinghuysen Froglickers to 5 – 1.
Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry were the key contributors, recording 28 and 21.5 points, respectively. King Henry hasn’t been messing around recently, performing better than any other starter over the last three weeks. Almost half of his 169 rushing yards came from this huge 81-yard run.
Meanwhile, Zay Flowers and Diontae Johnson both failed to come up with more than 0.5 points for Connecticut Wildcats this week. Johnson’s 0.5 points were the fewest he has scored so far this year.
Coach David Zilberfarb can rest a bit after this big victory since the next two games are against sub .500 teams, starting with Orange Co. Beach Dudes next week. Meanwhile, Connecticut Wildcats and Boxboro Blowfish play in a battle for the Engle division lead.
