Week 2 Recap

By CBS Fantasy Football AI Journalist

Connecticut Wildcats were pegged to score the most points this week and went out and did just that. Things didn’t go according to script everywhere though..

All Eyes on Me

Davante Adams (18.5 points) leads Mercer Mustangs to a win over Keystone Longfellows

‘The thrill is gone’ — at least when it comes to Keystone Longfellows’ recent games. After last week’s blowout, they were involved in another no-doubter this week (and lost again). Keystone Longfellows were on the losing side of a blowout, falling 83 to 41.5 at the hands of Mercer Mustangs. Keystone Longfellows secured the worst team performance in the league this week with that 41.5 point total.

The loss drops Keystone Longfellows’ record to 0 – 2, while the win brings Mercer Mustangs to 2 – 0.

Mercer Mustangs were led by the trio of Nico Collins, Ka’imi Fairbairn, and Davante Adams, who combined for 73% of their team’s points. While Adams had plenty of solid plays on Sunday, the most impressive was when he somehow pulled this ball in for a catch.

Meanwhile, the loss for Keystone Longfellows came down to a pretty simple factor: they didn’t go anywhere. Collectively, they only managed to gain 304 yards rushing and receiving. That was the lowest yards gained total of any team this week.

Mercer Mustangs faces Boxboro Blowfish next week in a battle of two undefeated teams. Meanwhile, Keystone Longfellows will take on Frelinghuysen Froglickers.

Smooth Sailing

Marvin Harrison Jr. has 24 points in blowout win over Happy Valley Violence

Big Oregon Bang sent Happy Valley Violence crying home to mommy after a thorough 92 to 55 spanking. That makes it back-to-back blowout games for both of these teams. The game evens up both teams’ records at 1 – 1.

Marvin Harrison Jr. was probably in Coach Wayne rupert’s doghouse after last week’s 0.5 point ‘performance’. He might be let out now. Harrison Jr. teamed up with DK Metcalf to score 44 points. Harrison Jr. contributed a 24 point performance, which was the 2nd best of any player this week.(*1) He didn’t wait long to get going on Sunday: less than halfway through the first quarter, he had two catches, 83 yards and a pair of TDs.

Meanwhile, this week’s loss for Happy Valley Violence was a true group effort. Brandin Cooks was the worst of a five man group of underperformers, tallying only 1 point.2

Coach Rupert did his part in the victory, setting a perfect lineup. That took more than just following the experts’ advice. He went with DK Metcalf over the higher ranked Sam LaPorta.

This great decision netted Coach Rupert an extra 19 points, which only added to Big Oregon Bang’s domination. Coach Rupert’s perfect lineup was the only one set this week.

Just Get Out of the Way

Malik Nabers helps give Connecticut Wildcats an easy win this week

There were no cracks in the experts’ crystal balls when they predicted that Connecticut Wildcats would score the most points this week. They gave Dallas Armadillos a 108.5 to 63 drubbing. That 46 point margin was the biggest gap between any two teams this week.

The win brings Connecticut Wildcats’ record to 2 – 0, while dropping Dallas Armadillos to 0 – 2.

Connecticut Wildcats had all (well, most) hands on deck in this win, with six players beating their positional averages. Malik Nabers was the best of the bunch, totaling 20 points. Connecticut Wildcats also got a good performance from Jalen Hurts, who scored 18 points. Hurts’ ground game was dominant on Monday, especially on plays like this.

Meanwhile, Jeff Wilson was the main culprit in Dallas Armadillos’ loss, managing only 1 point. Wilson might be heading back to the waiver wire after getting picked up before this game. Despite the loss, Dallas Armadillos had three standouts, with Chris Godwin, CeeDee Lamb, and Jordan Mason totaling 46 points.

Special K

Kyler Murray’s 21 points were too much for Philadelphia Griffins

Orange Co. Beach Dudes had to be wary coming into this game after losing both matches against Philadelphia Griffins last season. Thankfully for Coaches dan callahan and Ross Hessler, the past was not prelude. Orange Co. Beach Dudes strolled past Philadelphia Griffins, winning 80 to 61. The win brings Orange Co. Beach Dudes’ record to 1 – 0 – 1, while dropping Philadelphia Griffins to 0 – 2.

Orange Co. Beach Dudes got good efforts from almost everyone on the squad, with six players topping their positional averages. Kyler Murray was the first among equals, dropping 21 points. No other quarterback scored more points than that this week. He finished with a perfect passer rating on Sunday (and he looked fantastic doing it).

Jason Myers helped out as well, exceeding his projected point total by 4.8 points. Orange Co. Beach Dudes overcame poor performances from Courtland Sutton and Jaylen Waddle (3.5 points combined) in getting this win.

Meanwhile, Coach Nicholas Fisher will find no easy scapegoat for this week’s loss. Philadelphia Griffins were brought down by four underperformers, the worst of whom was Tank Dell (0.5 points).

Showtime

Justin Jefferson drops 18 points in leading Frelinghuysen Froglickers to victory

Frelinghuysen Froglickers came into the game as the biggest favorite this week and proceeded to make the experts look good. They wound up with a solid victory against Miami Muffdivers, winning 69.5 to 57.5. The win brings Frelinghuysen Froglickers’ record to 2 – 0, while dropping Miami Muffdivers to 0 – 2.

Frelinghuysen Froglickers were led by the two man wrecking crew of Justin Jefferson and J.K. Dobbins, who combined for 51% of Frelinghuysen Froglickers’ points. Dobbins didn’t just dodge defenders to score on this play, he did it with style.

Although they took the loss, Miami Muffdivers got a big game from James Cook. Cook kicked in a 24.5 point performance, which topped all but two players this week.1 Unfortunately, for Miami Muffdivers, he both began and ended the list of big performers on the squad.

Ladd McConkey and Michael Wilson were both working off the same playbook this week, notching only 1 point for Miami Muffdivers.

Cya!

New Chester Thorobreds had no chance as Amon-Ra St. Brown got the job done

The experts predicted this would be a close game. The experts were wrong…big time. Boxboro Blowfish destroyed New Chester Thorobreds, winning 68 to 42. The win brings Boxboro Blowfish’s record to 2 – 0, while dropping New Chester Thorobreds to 0 – 2.

Boxboro Blowfish won with a balanced effort, as four players outperformed their positional averages. Amon-Ra St. Brown was just a bit ahead of the others, posting 13.5 points. Boxboro Blowfish also got a better-than-expected performance from Alec Pierce, who beat his projections by 5.5 points.

The only real bad apple in Boxboro Blowfish’s orchard this week was Joe Mixon, who scored 2.5 points. That was quite a falloff from last week, when he scored 21.5 points.

Meanwhile, it will be difficult for Coaches mike white and Rich Sladic to fault any one player for the loss. New Chester Thorobreds had six underperformers, with Aaron Jones (2.5 points) being the worst.(*2)
