Our number one and two seeds lost in the semifinals, setting up a Fantasy Bowl where we’ll have a historic first regardless of the outcome. Dallas is looking for the first three-peat in league history, and Orange County is hoping to capture the franchise’s first Fantasy Bowl championship.
The Beach Dudes knocked off top-seeded Miami 66-52.5. Half the Muffdiver’s roster badly underperformed expectations. The Dudes also were short of their projections, but they advance. It’s Orange County’s first-ever berth in the Fantasy Bowl.
The other semifinal game was exactly the opposite: both teams overperformed. Dallas upset second-seeded Chicago 95.5-88.5. The Armadillos trailed the Mud until the second half of the Monday night, but AJ Brown pushed them over the finish line for the win. The Mud can’t help wondering if the outcome would have been different without the early-game injury to Courtland Sutton.

James Conner and Orange Co. Beach Dudes make it four in a row against Miami Muffdivers
Miami Muffdivers finished the regular season #1. Unfortunately, that didn’t count for much this week. They got beat by Orange Co. Beach Dudes, 66 to 52.5. Miami Muffdivers blew out Orange Co. Beach Dudes back in week five, so the turnabout this week was fair play.
The loss brings the season to an end for Miami Muffdivers, who finishes at 11 – 3. With the win, Orange Co. Beach Dudes continues their four-game streak of success, giving them a record of 10 – 5.
Orange Co. Beach Dudes put forth a decent effort Sunday. James Conner led the charge, scoring 14.5 points. That gave him the most points on Orange Co. Beach Dudes for the first time this season.
Meanwhile, Coach Pat landy’s squad was taking a collective personal day. They had five slightly underperforming players, with Jaylen Warren (2.5 points) being the worst. Bad performances are pretty common these days for Warren, who has now underperformed the experts’ predictions in five straight games.
Miami Muffdivers also had to deal with a poor effort from James Cook (5.2 points below expected).
Things were not looking good for Miami Muffdivers heading into Monday night. Coach Landy needed Christian McCaffrey and Odell Beckham Jr. to outscore Deebo Samuel and D’Andre Swift by 15.5 points.
Samuel and Swift did pretty good, scoring 16 points, but that left the door ever so slightly open. Run CMC and OBJ gave a decent effort, but their 18 points weren’t nearly enough.
Puka Nacua (23.5 points) leads Dallas Armadillos to a win over Chicago Mud
Coming into the game, Chicago Mud had scored the second most points of any team over the last three weeks. They got plenty of points again this week, but no win. Coach Ronnie Feldman’s squad just didn’t have enough against Dallas Armadillos, losing 95.5 to 88.5. Chicago Mud blew out Dallas Armadillos back in week thirteen, so the reversal of fortune this week seems fair.
Chicago Mud ends their 2023 campaign with a 9 – 5 mark. The win brings Dallas Armadillos to 9 – 6.
Dallas Armadillos have been relying on CeeDee Lamb all year, and he came through again this week. Lamb was part of a three-man-team, joining with Puka Nacua and Tee Higgins to total 60 points. Lamb’s performance late on Sunday took him from the 6th best player to the 5th best player in the league. He managed to excel against the Dolphins despite dealing with some novel forms of pass defense.
Meanwhile, two players stood out for their poor performance on Chicago Mud, with Courtland Sutton and Alvin Kamara combining to score only 2.5 points. Unfortunately, more bad performances might be on tap for Kamara, who has seen his point total drop in each of the last three weeks. His performances have closely tracked the fortunes of Chicago Mud this season, as they have gone 1 – 3 when he fails to meet his expectations, and 5 – 1 when he meets them.
