Armadillos, Dudes advance to semi-finals

It was a nail-biter for the Orange County Beach Dudes, but a couple key catches in the final drive of the Monday Night Football game by WR D.K. Metcalf propelled the Dudes to a come-from-behind win over the Froglickers, 80.5-75.5.

In the other Wild Card game, the two-time defending champion Dallas Armadillos dispatched the Blowfish 70-52.5.

Bulls-eye!

Perfect lineup and Jaylen Waddle’s performance give Orange Co. Beach Dudes the win

The experts just can’t seem to give Orange Co. Beach Dudes enough credit. They had topped their point total projections for four straight weeks before this game, and did it again this week. Orange Co. Beach Dudes slid by Frelinghuysen Froglickers, winning 80.5 to 75.5. The win helped Orange Co. Beach Dudes halt Frelinghuysen Froglickers’ three game winning streak.

Orange Co. Beach Dudes have now won three games in a row, which brings their record to 9 – 5. Frelinghuysen Froglickers will finish their season at 8 – 6.

Jaylen Waddle was the clear leader on Orange Co. Beach Dudes this week, putting up 21 points. Waddle set his high mark for the season with that effort. A big chunk of his 142 receiving yards came from this impressive 60-yard touchdown.

Meanwhile, it will be difficult for Coach David Zilberfarb to fault any one player for the loss. Frelinghuysen Froglickers were brought down by four underperformers, the worst of whom was Derrick Henry (2 points). King Henry’s performance this week ended a three game streak of beating the experts’ projections. His performances have been a good barometer for Frelinghuysen Froglickers this season, as they have gone 2 – 4 when he fails to meet his expectations, and 6 – 1 when he meets them.

Coaches dan callahan and Ross Hessler added a perfect lineup to their win, which involved more than just going chalk. They went with Zay Jones over the higher ranked Tyler Lockett.

This decision boosted Orange Co. Beach Dudes’ final score by 3 points. Coaches dan callahan and Ross Hessler’s perfect lineup was the only one set this week.

Baby Step

Tee Higgins’ 17 points stops the bleeding for Dallas Armadillos

Dallas Armadillos get to go home happy for the first time in six weeks. They got past Boxboro Blowfish without much trouble, winning 70 to 52.5. Dallas Armadillos got some measure of revenge on Boxboro Blowfish for their matchup back in week fourteen, when Dallas Armadillos lost 78.5 to 59.5.

With the loss, Boxboro Blowfish will close the season at 7 – 6. The win brings Dallas Armadillos to 8 – 6.

When Coaches Paul Gilgallon and Sam McClain entertained thoughts of winning this game, they probably didn’t include the two players that ended up leading the way. Tee Higgins scored 17 points, and Zamir White was close behind with 12.5. Higgins’ performance paced Dallas Armadillos for the 2nd time this year.

Meanwhile, Dak Prescott hadn’t dropped the ball for Boxboro Blowfish since week five’s stinker. Well, that run has come to an end. Dak was the worst of six underperformers, racking up zero points. He is in the midst of a troubling sequence, having seen his point total fall every week for the last three weeks. He didn’t toss a touchdown on Sunday, the first time since Week 6 in which the MVP candidate has failed to throw for multiple scores.

The outcome of this one would have been different if Coach Doug Weaver had gotten all of their lineup picks right. Perhaps scared off by Jalen Hurts’s 2 point performance last week, Coach Weaver left him on the bench in favor of Prescott, despite the experts’ prediction that Hurts should have played.

This decision took a 16 point chunk out of Boxboro Blowfish’s final score. If Coach Weaver had left Prescott on the bench and also started Devin Singletary, Boxboro Blowfish would have won the game.
