Chicago Mud won their 4th in a row, while Keystone Longfellows took yet another hit to the loss column. Meanwhile, Coach David Zilberfarb were winning by setting a perfect lineup. Read all about it in this week’s report.
Bulls-eye!
Perfect lineup and Ja’Marr Chase’s performance give Frelinghuysen Froglickers the win
Frelinghuysen Froglickers came into the game as the biggest favorite this week and proceeded to make the experts look good. They ended up well ahead of Keystone Longfellows, winning 79.5 to 62.
The defeat is the 11th in a row for Keystone Longfellows, dropping their record to 1 – 11. The win brings Frelinghuysen Froglickers to 7 – 5.
Frelinghuysen Froglickers got more than half their points from just two players: Ja’Marr Chase and Derrick Henry. A good performance by Henry has been crucial for Frelinghuysen Froglickers all year, as they have gone 5 – 1 when he exceeds expectations, and 2 – 3 when he doesn’t. Despite leaving Sunday’s matchup with a suspected concussion (he was later cleared), he racked up 102 rushing yards and a pair of rushing scores.
Meanwhile, Emari Demercado and Austin Ekeler were double trouble for Keystone Longfellows, together tallying only 1 point. Underperforming is the new normal for Ekeler, who has gone three straight games without hitting his projected point total. Unfortunately, more bad performances might be on tap for Ekeler, who has seen his point total drop in each of the last four weeks.
Coach David Zilberfarb did their part in the victory, setting a perfect lineup. That took more than just following the experts’ advice. They started Evan McPherson instead of Jason Myers, despite the experts’ prediction that Myers should have played.
This decision netted Coach Zilberfarb an extra 9 points. This is the first time this year that Coach Zilberfarb has set a perfect lineup (slow clap).
I’m Kind of a Big Deal
DK Metcalf and Orange Co. Beach Dudes set the league’s top point mark
Orange Co. Beach Dudes made sure that they didn’t become the 5th straight team to lose to Big Oregon Bang. Orange Co. Beach Dudes completely dismantled Big Oregon Bang, winning 146 to 88. Besides the victory, Coaches dan callahan and Ross Hessler can brag that they posted the highest score in the league so far.
The win brings Orange Co. Beach Dudes’ record to 8 – 5, while dropping Big Oregon Bang to 6 – 6.
Coaches dan callahan and Ross Hessler didn’t rely on their All-Stars to pull this one out, instead getting contributions from unexpected quarters. DK Metcalf scored 31 points, Deebo Samuel came up with 28, and James Conner finished with 21. Conner’s performance this week stopped his three game streak of not meeting his projections. Sunday’s contest was a revenge game for him against his former team (as this stiff arm clearly shows).
Big Oregon Bang suffered through poor performances from Jahmyr Gibbs, Romeo Doubs, and Brandon McManus, who collectively scored only 16.5 points. Big Oregon Bang has never won when McManus failed to hit his expected points, going 0 – 3.
On the coaching front, Coach Wayne rupert wound up with a perfect lineup this week, albeit by following the CBSSports projections to the letter. He has now set more perfect lineups than any other coach in the league.
They Shall Not Pass
Chuba Hubbard and Boxboro Blowfish deny pat landy a 5th straight win
This game was expected to be close. Boxboro Blowfish found those expectations insulting. They gave Miami Muffdivers a 86.5 to 44 drubbing. That win stopped Miami Muffdivers’ winning streak at four games.
The win gets Boxboro Blowfish back above .500 at 6 – 5 – 1. The loss drops Miami Muffdivers’ record to 10 – 2.
Chuba Hubbard and Evan Engram were the prime movers for Boxboro Blowfish, totaling 20 and 15.5 points, respectively. Hubbard’s 20 point performance made him the top performer on Boxboro Blowfish for the first time this year. He was dynamite in the red-zone, punching in 1-yard touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters.
Meanwhile, Miami Muffdivers had plenty of duds in the loss. They were brought down by seven underperformers, the worst of whom was Tyler Boyd (1.5 points).1 It’s yet another disappointing day for Boyd, who has now underperformed the experts’ predictions in three straight games.
Boxboro Blowfish will face off against Dallas Armadillos next week. Boxboro Blowfish might be feeling pretty confident about that game, as Dallas Armadillos limps in on a four game losing streak. Meanwhile, Miami Muffdivers will be playing Keystone Longfellows.
Taking the Reins
Mercer Mustangs gets a big effort from Isiah Pacheco this week
After losing four straight games, Coaches mike white and Rich Sladic’s squad figured: ‘Why not another?’ New Chester Thorobreds were on the losing side of a blowout, falling 66 to 42 at the hands of Mercer Mustangs. That point total sent New Chester Thorobreds to the bottom of the points standings for the season.
With the win, Mercer Mustangs have now won four out of their last five games, bringing their record to 6 – 6. The loss drops New Chester Thorobreds’ record to 3 – 9.
Mercer Mustangs were led by the tag team of Isiah Pacheco and Jake Ferguson, who together posted 29.5 points. It’s just another day at the office for Pacheco, who has led Mercer Mustangs more times than any other player.
New Chester Thorobreds, meanwhile, were having a terrible time moving the ball down the field, with the whole team gaining only 232 yards. That was the lowest yards gained total of any team this week.
Coaches mike white and Rich Sladic’s gameday decisions have been some of the worst in the league this season, and this week they showed why. They left Zach Charbonnet and his 6.5 expected points on the bench, favoring Rico Dowdle (2.4 points expected).
This terrible decision took a 10 point chunk out of New Chester Thorobreds’ final score, which ultimately didn’t make a difference in the final outcome. It did make it back-to-back weeks now where Coaches mike white and Rich Sladic have cost their team points.
Winning Ways
Joe Mixon and Connecticut Wildcats beat Happy Valley Violence for their 3rd win in a row
Joe Mixon did about as good for Connecticut Wildcats this week as he did bad last week. Connecticut Wildcats strolled past Happy Valley Violence, winning 59.5 to 41 behind 21 points from Mixon. That’s the most points that he’s scored this year. Mixon scored both of Cincinnati’s first-half touchdowns, racking up season highs in receptions (seven) and receiving yards (49) in the process.
There were five underperformers keeping Connecticut Wildcats from a proper victory, with Justin Herbert (3 points) being the worst of them. Herbert failed to score a touchdown on Sunday, but it turns out when you’re playing the Pats, you don’t need to.
Meanwhile, Happy Valley Violence really lost this game as a team. Terry McLaurin was the worst of a six man group of underperformers, recording zero points. This is the 3rd time this year that he was the worst starter on his team.
Adam Thielen falling 7.2 points short of his expectations didn’t help matters much either. Thielen has now underperformed the league average wide receiver in six straight games. Happy Valley Violence only had one player who gave a passable performance this week, with Tony Pollard scoring 12.5 points.
The win makes it three in a row for Connecticut Wildcats, and gives them a record of 6 – 6. The loss drops Happy Valley Violence’s record to 4 – 8.
Not Even Close
Tyreek Hill led the charge for Chicago Mud in a one sided affair
Last year’s playoff loss at the hands of Dallas Armadillos might still be ringing in Coach Ronnie Feldman’s ears, but he got some measure of revenge this week. Chicago Mud beat Dallas Armadillos Like a drum, winning 125 to 67. That 58 point gap represents the biggest victory margin of the season.
That’s four straight wins for Chicago Mud, for those of you counting, which gives them a 9 – 3 record. This loss brings Dallas Armadillos’ losing streak to four in a row, which leaves them with a 7 – 5 record.
Chicago Mud had a three-man strike force with Tyreek Hill, Mike Evans, and Alvin Kamara combining for 69 points. The Cheetah hasn’t been messing around recently, performing better than any other starter over the last three weeks. He posted 157 receiving yards on Sunday, most of which came from his two touchdowns: one from 78 yards out, the other from 60.
Meanwhile, Dallas Armadillos saw five different players underperform, and while none of them particularly stuck out, Marquise Brown and his zero points was officially the worst. Coaches Paul Gilgallon and Sam McClain have to be used to bad scores from Brown, who has been the worst performer on Dallas Armadillos more times than any other player. He left Sunday’s game in the third quarter with an ankle injury after failing to bring in all three of his targets.
Next week, Chicago Mud will be playing Philadelphia Griffins. As for Dallas Armadillos, they will square off against Boxboro Blowfish.
