Dallas Dual Champs – Again

The Dallas Armadillos have become the first team in league history to successfully defend both the Fantasy Bowl and Overall Points in the same year. So for the first time ever, the winner will be getting their own names engraved on both trophies.

In Fantasy Bowl XXXI, Dallas beats Miami 84-70.5.
Mercer finishes in third place via their 87-78.5 win over Keystone.
Boxboro finishes in 5th place with their 64-40 win over Chicago.
The same formula was applied to all 3 games: those who lost a player to CIN-BUF cancellation in week 17 were awarded the points scored by those same players in their respective week 18 games. Scoring details (and final records) below.

FANTASY BOWL XXXI:
Dallas 83.5 (wk17) + Higgins (0.5 in week 18) = 84
Miami 39.5 + Burrow (6) Cook (4) Boyd (4.5) Diggs (16.5) = 70.5
FINAL SCORE: Dallas 84 (10-5-1), Miami 70.5 (10-5)

THIRD PLACE:
Mercer 87
Keystone 68 + Mixon (10.5) = 78.5
FINAL SCORE: Mercer 87 (8-8), Keystone 78.5 (8-6-1)

FIFTH PLACE:
Chicago 37.5 + Singletary (0.5) = 38
Boxboro 64
FINAL SCORE: Boxboro 64 (9-5-1), Chicago 38 (7-8)

In the total points race, Dallas wins by a wide margin — 72 points — over Boxboro.

The rules committee has determined — in mutual agreement with the owners involved — that second place in points will be declared a tie between Boxboro and Miami. Miami finished 15 points behind Boxboro, but only 3.5 points back when week 17 partial-game points are recorded (which we will do), and any reasonable argument could be made that Miami likely would have taken 2nd overall points had the CIN-BUF game not been cancelled.

This year will be an “asterisk year” for our records. The cancellation of the Bengals-Bills game in week 17 had consequential impact on our championship and in our overall points race, but we feel this best resolves the situation equitably under extraordinary circumstances.

I will record final scores and update the spreadsheet with the week 17 partials in the coming days. For reference I grabbed screenshots of the in-progress BUF-CIN boxscore as it stood when the game was suspended.

Thanks, everyone, for your understanding as we sorted through this. Some end-of-season updates will be forthcoming … in a week or so!
