Week 11 Recap

by CBS Fantasy Journalist

Mercer Mustangs won their 3rd in a row, while Orange Co. Beach Dudes took yet another hit to the loss column. Meanwhile, Happy Valley Violence beat Keystone Longfellows within an inch of their lives as part of this week’s exciting action.

Brushing ‘Em Off

Big Oregon Bang had lost both matches against New Chester Thorobreds last season, but finally got sweet revenge this week. Big Oregon Bang stomped all over New Chester Thorobreds 78.5 to 38. Blowouts are typical for these teams these days. Big Oregon Bang has been involved in two straight blowout games, while this is the 3rd straight blowout game for New Chester Thorobreds.

With the win, Big Oregon Bang moved to 6 – 4, good for the top spot in the Engle division. The loss drops New Chester Thorobreds’ record to an identical 6 – 4.

When Coach Wayne rupert entertained thoughts of winning this game, he probably didn’t include the three players that ended up leading the way. Josh Palmer scored 23 points, David Montgomery got 14.5, and Treylon Burks dropped 11.5. Montgomery’s performance this week ended a three game streak of failing to hit his projections. He caught all three of his targets (even this one!) for 54 receiving yards, and rushed 17 times for 67 yards and a touchdown.

Coaches mike white and Rich Sladic saw some familiar names among their bad players this week. Kareem Hunt, DeVante Parker, and Van Jefferson continued to disappoint, combining for 5.5 points. Bad performances are pretty common these days for Hunt, who has now underperformed the experts’ predictions in five straight games.

Next week will feature a mirror image matchup as the 6 – 4 Big Oregon Bang will take on the 6 – 4 Dallas Armadillos. Dallas Armadillos have been racking up the points recently, posting two straight 85+ point games.

As for New Chester Thorobreds, Coaches mike white and Rich Sladic are probably happy with how their team has played this season, but they have to be concerned about their team’s recent performance. New Chester Thorobreds have now lost their last two games. Coaches mike white and Rich Sladic will have to hope things turn around in next week’s matchup with Frelinghuysen Froglickers.

That’s All Folks

Frelinghuysen Froglickers entered this week’s game with a four game winning streak, but couldn’t keep it going against Dallas Armadillos. Dallas Armadillos got past Frelinghuysen Froglickers without much trouble, winning 87.5 to 70.5. Dallas Armadillos’ 87.5 points didn’t just give them a win, but moved them into the top spot for points in the season as well.

Dallas Armadillos are now 6 – 4 after picking up their first back-to-back wins of the season. The loss drops Frelinghuysen Froglickers’ record to 5 – 5.

Brett Maher was the key contributor for Dallas Armadillos, racking up 24 points. No other kicker has scored more points than that this season. Maher’s performance this week also ended a four game streak of failing to perform at a league average level.

Meanwhile, Graham Gano stuck out as the worst performer for Frelinghuysen Froglickers, scoring -2 points. That was fewer than every other player this season.

Frelinghuysen Froglickers needs to step their game up if they don’t want the same results as they had this week against Dallas Armadillos, because it doesn’t get any easier from here. Next week begins a difficult two game set starting with New Chester Thorobreds. Meanwhile, Dallas Armadillos will be playing Big Oregon Bang.

They Shall Not Pass

Connecticut Wildcats (4 – 6) came into the game as the biggest underdog this week, but they didn’t let that get them down. They demolished Boxboro Blowfish (6 – 3 – 1), winning 90.5 to 55. With the win, Connecticut Wildcats put an end to Boxboro Blowfish’s three-game win streak.

Connecticut Wildcats set their new high mark for the season with their 90.5 points. On the other side of things, Boxboro Blowfish were setting their personal low score mark for the year.

Connecticut Wildcats got more than half their points from just two players: Amari Cooper and Tyler Bass. That’s a big turnaround for Cooper, who last week scored only 1.5 points. He drew first blood on Sunday with this 25 yard touchdown and picked up another to finish the game with two TDs and 113 yards.

Meanwhile, Saquon Barkley and Dameon Pierce put a big hurt on Boxboro Blowfish’s chances this week, recording only 2 points between them. SaQuads’ 1 point was the fewest he has scored this year. His performance this week also ended a seven game streak of beating the league average.

Both teams have good news in the upcoming schedule. After this week’s difficult opponent, Connecticut Wildcats will be happy to see that next week’s game is against league doormat Orange Co. Beach Dudes.

As for Boxboro Blowfish, they will square off against Philadelphia Griffins. Good timing, as Philadelphia Griffins will come into the matchup on a four game losing streak.

No Chance

This week featured three blowouts, but this one was the biggest. Happy Valley Violence completely dismantled Keystone Longfellows, winning 126.5 to 44.5. That 82 point win is the biggest blowout this season.

Keystone Longfellows are now 6 – 4 – 1 after suffering their first back-to-back losses of the season. The win brings Happy Valley Violence to 5 – 6.

Happy Valley Violence had the good fortune of having the league’s best player this week in Travis Kelce. Kelce joined up with Tony Pollard to score 57 points. Kelce scored 29 points, which topped all but one tight end this season. He earned 115 yards and three touchdowns, making Sunday’s game his 33rd with more than 100 receiving yards (an NFL record for tight ends).

Coach Terry Muth put Zach Wilson into the Keystone Longfellows lineup for the first time this week, but Wilson might want to keep his bench warming pants clean. Keystone Longfellows had many underperformers, but Wilson stood out, tallying only 1 point.

Coach Muth’s lineup matched the poor performance of their team. They started Wilson instead of Jacoby Brissett, despite the experts’ prediction that Brissett should have played.

This decision shaved 18 points from Keystone Longfellows’ score, which ultimately didn’t make a difference in the final outcome. It does mark the first time this year that Coach Muth’s decisions have cost their team points.

More Please

Mercer Mustangs (4 – 6) walked away with a nice 62 to 48 win this week against Orange Co. Beach Dudes (2 – 9). The result fits the recent pattern for both of these teams. Mercer Mustangs have now won three games in a row. The loss is the 8th straight for Orange Co. Beach Dudes.

Throughout Mercer Mustangs’ winning streak, Davante Adams has been coming up with big performances. This week was no different. Adams was a one-man wrecking crew, tallying 26.5 points. That was the most that any wide receiver collected this week. A good performance by Adams has been critical for Mercer Mustangs this season, as they have gone 3 – 2 when he exceeds his expectations, and 0 – 4 when he doesn’t.

Meanwhile, Coaches dan callahan and Ross Hessler can look to Russell Wilson and Michael Carter when passing out blame for the loss. The two combined to score only 4.5 points. Coaches dan callahan and Ross Hessler have to be used to bad scores from Wilson, who has been the worst performer on Orange Co. Beach Dudes more times than any other player. He has now underperformed the league average quarterback in five straight games.

Next week Mercer Mustangs will take on Miami Muffdivers in a battle that features the top two gameday coaches in the league. The contest will also see some top shelf WR play, as Davante Adams meets up with Stefon Diggs. Meanwhile, Orange Co. Beach Dudes will collide with Connecticut Wildcats next week.

Kittle Me This

Philadelphia Griffins came into this week on a three game losing streak, and went ahead and signed up for more punishment. They couldn’t stay with Chicago Mud, losing 78 to 60.5.

Chicago Mud improve to 4 – 6 after winning three out of their last four games. The loss drops Philadelphia Griffins’ record to 3 – 7.

Chicago Mud had several players step up in the win, as five starters beat their positional averages. George Kittle was the best of the bunch, posting 19 points. This is the 2nd time this year that Kittle has led Chicago Mud. He somehow managed to score this touchdown despite being stuck on the sideline with half the Cardinal defense in front of him.

Philadelphia Griffins had never won when Adam Thielen failed to hit his expected points, and that held true again this week. Thielen and A.J. Dillon gave Philadelphia Griffins 0.5 and 1 point, respectively. Thielen is in the midst of a troubling sequence, having seen his point total fall every week for the last three weeks. He has also now underperformed the experts’ predictions in four straight games.

Coach Ronnie Feldman might have gotten the victory this week, but it wasn’t due to his efforts. He went with James Robinson over the higher ranked Devin Singletary. This decision took a 14 point chunk out of Chicago Mud’s final score.
