Trade Deadline in One Week; Season Update

Howdy FFLGOO Owners,

Four regular season games remain, and we have some upcoming deadlines. Here’s the scoop.

Kickoff Week 12 is the trade deadline, so this is effectively one week away (you can trade players anytime before their team’s week 12 game begins). Oddly, all NFL teams play week 12 – there are no byes.

Week 12 is also the cutoff for players to be on an active roster for 2023 protections. Players **added** to a roster after kickoff week 12 are not be eligible for protection next season.

As we near the home stretch of the season, some clear favorites are emerging:

– Miami holds the best record at 8-2 and has a slim lead in the points race. Miami is the only team among the league’s original 12 members to have never won a Fantasy Bowl, and one of only two teams overall (with the Beach Dudes) without a Fantasy Bowl win. Could this be the year of the Muffdivers???

– New Chester at 6-3 wants to make a return trip to the Fantasy Bowl where they lost to Dallas last year. They are only 20.5 points behind Miami.

– Boxboro’s bi-annual rollercoaster continues. The 2018 Fantasy Bowl champs and 2020 points champs failed to make the playoffs last year, but they’ve rebounded again and at 6-2-1 are only 49 points off the lead.

– Keystone at 6-3-1 is having a rebound year and leads the Engle Division.

– Dallas sits at 5-4 primarily because of a couple really tough losses (like the week 7 123.5-87 loss to Miami) but they only trail Miami by 4 points. Dallas holds both trophies and wants to defend them both.

If those 5 teams listed above make the playoffs, there will be ONE more playoff slot left. The Froglickers and the Big Bang are both 5-4 (the only remaining teams with a winning record), but theoretically and based on history, a 7-6 team could make the playoffs which doesn’t eliminate anyone other than the 2-8 Beach Dudes who can safely put their surf boards in storage for the rest of this season.

Check back in 4 weeks for the final tally, since we are still tabulating votes in Arizona, Nevada, the Dominican Republic, Kiev, and that county in Wisconsin where they spilled the cheese curds into the voting machine, don’t cha know.
