Froglickers, Wildcats open big in Week 1

FFL Froglickers 94
MIA Muffdivers 23
FROGLICKERS: All Froglicker starters scored, with Ray Rice and Mike Tolbert leading the way with 20 points each. Rice looks like he’s going to have a monster year. Jay Cutler contributed a strong 15, with DeSean Jackson scoring 11 and a kicker who “Rack”ed up 10. MUFFDIVERS: Miami kicks of the year with Week One’s low score. Kyle Orton’s 10 points lead the way for Miami as Mark Sanchez’s 14 points remained on the bench. In fact, the Muffdiver bench outscored the starters 36-23.
BOS Wildcats 80
PHI Griffins 51
WILDCATS: Tom Brady’s monster 35-point game paced the defending Fantasy Bowl champions, with stalwarts Matt Forte (13), Maurice Jones-Drew (11) and Greg Jennings (11) all coming up big. Off-season acquisition Vincent Jackson, however, came up short. Bench rookie QB Cam Newton came out strong with 27 points, but it’s unlikely he’ll see the field much with Brady going gangbusters. GRIFFINS: LeSean McCoy looks like he’s going to have a big year for the Griffins, scoring 20 points in his first week. Larry Fitzgerald disappointed, notching only 2 points. Philadelphia put Peyton Manning on IR this week to add a receiver, so it looks like QB Josh Freeman will be running the show for the Griffins.
OCD Beach Dudes 69
RIB Raptors 31
DUDES: WR Wes Welker was the biggest recipient of Tom Brady’s monster game for the Patriots, including Welker’s 99-yard TD catch, which was mostly run. Welker lead the Dudes with 23 points. Kevin Kolb scored 15 while K Nick Folk added 11. Bench QB Ryan Fitzpatrick had an impressive 2011 debut with 18 points. RAPTORS: Only TE Vernon Davis failed to scored for the Raptors, but there were no standout performances either. RB Tim Hightower and WR Mike Williams (the one from Tampa) tied for high score at 8 points.
MIM Mud 64
SYR Blizzard 46
MUD: WR Kenny Britt’s opening performance of the 2010 campaign hints at big things to come. He lead the Mud with 20 points. QB Tony Romo and RB Cedric Benson each added 14. The Mud’s biggest performance, however, was sitting on the bench. WR Steve Smith’s resurgence could have added 26 points to the lineup. In fact, with a couple lineup changes the Mud could have had the week’s high score of 100. BLIZZARD: QB Aaron Rodgers picked up right where he left off last season, leading the Blizzard with 20 points. RBs Darren McFadden (14) and Beanie Wells (11) both had good weeks, but the Blizzard faithful has to be a little concerned at receiver after the first week. Roddy White came up short (2), Danny Amendola was hurt (and dropped), and there were no points on the bench.
DAL Armadillos 57
KEY Longfellows 45
ARMADILLOS: Dallas opened strong with good performances from WR Calvin Johnson (17), QB Philip Rivers (14) and K John Kasay (10), a late add since Dallas failed to draft a kicker. RB Rashard Mendenhall’s -1 point production — and the Steeler’s meltdown in Baltimore — must be a bit disconcerting here. LONGFELLOWS: Last year’s points champion did not get out of the gate strong for 2011. K Sebastian Janikowski’s 15-point effort was the team’s high score. Zero points combined from Shonn Greene and Chris Johnson had to be a big disappointment for Longfellow fans. Bench QB Chad Henne’s 29 points surprised many.
HVV Violence 57
BOB Big Bang 35
VIOLENCE: Off-season acquisition QB Matthew Stafford had a big game, posting 19 points for Happy Valley. Many people think Detroit will surprise this year, but Stafford has to stay on the field. He could have a big year. WRs Andre Johnson and Reggie Wayne each contributed 11 points, but Violence RBs combined scored only 6 points. BIG BANG: The Bang wasn’t so Big in Week 1. RB Stephen Jackson scored 8, as did WR Hakeem Nicks, to lead Oregon. QB Ben Roethlisberger disappointed with only 4 points. TE Aaron Hernandez had 11 points sitting on the bench, while bench RB Cadillac Williams surprised and could get some starting time in this lineup.
MER Mustangs 53
NCT Thorobreds 36
MUSTANGS: QB Drew Brees looks poised for another monster season and scored nearly half the Mustang’s points in week one with 26. WR Steve Johnson added 8. Three Mustang RBs combined for only 8 points, though. THOROBREDS: QB Joe Flacco’s demolition of the Steelers paced New Chester, leading the team with 14 points. RB James Stark added 8, while WR Plaxico Burress’s 8 points remained on the bench.
