Deadline trade flurry; McClain back in the league

As the midnight deadline for protected rosters approaches, there’s been a flurry of trade activity and big news — the surprise re-emergence of Sam McClain as a new co-owner with Paul Gilgallon of the Dallas (???) Armadillos franchise. And as Frog Licker’s owner Dave Zilberfarb pointed out via email, it’s about time they move this “Dallas” franchise to Florida already. (Of course, let’s not forget that in McClain’s previous stint in the league his team eschewed the traditional regional team name and sold out to the corporate big wigs and became the NIKEtown Knights, so who knows what is up the collective sleeves of the newly expanded ownership group in Dallas, er … Florida.)

But we digress … here are the trades:

  • Marvin Harrison goes from DAL to FFL for a 2008 (2) draft pick
  • Tory Holt goes from MIA to DAL for a 2008 (4) draft pick
  • T.J. Houshmandzadeh goes from OCD to DAL, for a draft pick swap (DAL’s 2nd for OCD’s 4th)
  • Ricky Williams goes from BOS to DAL for the 2009 conditional draft pick
  • Dwayne Bowe and a 3rd-round pick goes from KEY to BOB for a 2 picks (2nd and 4th)

And word has it phones are still ringing…
