Week 13 Notes

Imagine this scenario, if you will: Suppose the final scores for week 14 fall like this: NYG beats MER, DAL beats KEY, NPB beats NDV, and RMD beats MVO. If that happens, we will have a 5-team tie for the Wild Card slot. So don’t expect to find any permutations on all the various possibilities. I don’t get paid to do this, after all…

Cappelletti Division: NYG Griffins have clinched the division. NYG could end up tied with both MER and KEY, but the Griffins win the tiebreaker against both — 2-0 record vs. KEY this year; potential split with MER on the season but better (6-1) division record.

Engle Division: GBM Mud clinched their division last month, but loss this week to the Griffins leaves the door open for NYG to nail the #1 seed in the playoffs if they end up tied with best W-L record (GBM leads NYG by only 4 points overall).

Paterno Division: Up for grabs, but not in a head-to-head game. An FFL loss to BOS coupled with a MVO win over RMD would give the Impossibles the division crown. Otherwise, FFL wins the division.

Wild Card: As far as overall record is concerned, any of the following teams could potentially end up tied with the same W-L record for the WC slot: MER, KEY, DAL, NPB and the second-place team in the Paterno Division (either MVO or FFL). Obviously, DAL and NPB with 7-6 records are huge long-shots. With a win this week, KEY would likely clinch the WC holding tiebreakers over MER, FFL and MVO.

Consolation: Of the 8 teams mentioned in the various division scenarios above that do NOT make the top-tier playoffs, all but NPB are guaranteed a slot in the consolation bracket. NDV could steal the last spot here from NPB with win in Week 14 over NPB if the winning point margin is greater than 65 points.

Entirely Eliminated from all Playoff Possibility: MIA, BOS, BOB, RMD and SYR.
