Cheeseheads clinch division; BOS v. CAR will decide wild card

The (sometime-soon-to-be-EX-) Cheeseheads clinched the Engle Division championship with a 65-16 victory over Mercer. The Cheeseheads were being pursued by the Dallas Armadillos, who were knocked out of the race by a 60-46 loss to Boston.

Boston and Carolina will go head-to-head this weekend for the wild card slot. The defending champion Wildcats are in with a win. Carolina needs a win by more than 25 points to capture the wild card slot. If Carolina wins by exactly 25 points, Boston wins on the fifth tiebreaker. The Wildcats won the earlier meeting between the two teams this year, an 18-17 struggle in Week 6.

Although there are many tiebreaker scenarios, it appears both New Denver and Dallas (regardless of a W or L this weekend) are in the consolation playoff bracket, and will be joined by the loser of the battle for the wild card slot. Syracuse and Newport Beach will battle for the remaining consolation bracket slot. Newport Beach, at 6-7, is in with a win. Syracuse, also at 6-7, is in with a win AND one of these two scenarios: 1) Newport Beach loses; or 2) NDV wins and DAL loses.

The Rattlin Raptors also reached an historic mark this weekend: Richmond is the first team EVER to have an 11-game losing streak.
